David earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Texas A&M University in 2016. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Christian Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

David began his helping career as a Medical Case Manager for people living with HIV in Texas where he helped individuals and their loved ones adjust to life with chronic illness, navigate social services, and align their actions with their values. Since then, David has worked as an Admissions Counselor and a Development Officer at Southeastern. As an Admissions Counselor, David helped prospective students align their personal and vocational aspirations with their academic journeys. As a Development Officer, David helps couples and individuals live out their passions through giving. In church settings, David has led support groups for men struggling with sexual addiction and currently serves with elementary aged children living with autism. As a result of these experiences, David is comfortable working with a wide array of people.

David seeks to create a safe space for healing and growth through deep empathy, genuine curiosity, and individualized care. David also welcomes the integration of faith and spirituality in the counseling process when it aligns with clients’ preferences. For individuals, David integrates various counseling approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. For couples, David integrates the Gottman Method with Emotionally Focused Therapy. David is also a Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator.

David’s areas of interest include, but are not limited to: depression, anxiety, shame, emotional dysregulation, life transitions, trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, premarital/marital, betrayal, parenting, family relationships, and sexual addiction.

David enjoys spending time with his wife and his son. His hobbies include hiking, grilling, disc golf, singing, and reading.
