Many people begin therapy feeling emotionally exhausted, stuck, or unsure of where they belong. This can be especially true for those navigating multiple cultures, identities, and expectations at once. When family values, cultural norms, and personal needs don’t fully align, it’s common to feel pulled in different directions—or to quietly lose touch with yourself. Over time, this strain may show up as burnout, anxiety, relationship stress, or a lingering sense that something isn’t quite right, even if everything looks “fine” on the outside. I take a collaborative, culturally responsive approach to therapy that honors the complexity of your lived experience. I don’t believe there is one “right” way to feel, heal, or move forward—especially when identity, family dynamics, and cultural expectations play such a central role in your life. My work integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy, family systems therapy, and person-centered approaches. Together, we will make sense of patterns shaped by your past experiences and relationships while building practical coping skills that support meaningful, sustainable change. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Francisco. During graduate training, I completed my internship at Gateway Public Schools, where I worked with adolescents ages 11–18. In this role, I supported students navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity development, and a wide range of family-related and personal challenges, gaining hands-on experience working within complex systems that impact young people’s emotional well-being. Over time, clients often gain greater emotional clarity, self-trust, and a stronger sense of agency—feeling more empowered to live in ways that feel authentic rather than obligatory. Therapy is a space where you don’t have to choose between parts of yourself—you can bring all of you into the room. My goal is to create a supportive and affirming therapeutic space where you feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood. We will explore how family dynamics, identity development, and cultural influences have shaped your experiences, while also focusing on what matters most to you moving forward. Outside of therapy, I value humor, perspective, and taking meaningful chances in life. One quote that resonates with me is: “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” – Wayne Gretzky — Michael Scott. This mindset reflects my belief in growth, courage, and the importance of showing up for yourself—even when the next step feels uncertain.

The idea of therapy can be overwhelming for many. People sometimes associate therapy with a sense of inadequacy or inability to handle their own problems. They often do not recognize the act of seeking self-improvement as courageous, which, of course, it is. In my work with individuals, I create a safe space where they are able to heal, grow, and flourish. With compassion and empathy, I guide each person through the process of understanding the root of their problems so they may discover a greater depth of personal insight and self-awareness. Through that process, I find great satisfaction in witnessing each person heal their emotional wounds and develop self-love and self-compassion as they begin living a more fulfilling existence with inner peace and enriched relationships.

I meet clients virtually to quiet negative self-talk and build resilience in their nervous systems using a patent pending somatic processing tool. With a stronger nervous system, it’s easier to not be overwhelmed, in fact your baseline becomes calm, less triggered, and more balanced. Clients routinely report resolution of panic attacks; resolving the underlying causes of the negative self talk; resolving the root causes of anxiety, depression, rage, and numbness; having better relationships; and understanding their emotions better. This transformative work addresses the nonverbal impact of stressful/traumatic experiences including feelings, sensations, emotions, muscle tension, numbness and dissociation; the areas where talking is not effective. Benefits typically begin with the first session. We use CBD, medical cannabis, or ketamine assisted virtual sessions to activate brain areas that facilitate safely processing emotions, and make new brain cell connections (associated with learning and working around blocks) among many other benefits. Many patients complain about the emotional numbness and other symptoms caused by their psych medications. Because I am a medical doctor, as patients improve I am able to help wean them off of their meds when appropriate. Insurance is not accepted, but sliding scale payments are. Welcome to my practice! We all face challenges in our lives. With those challenges come opportunities to choose how we respond. Some of the difficulties we face include adapting to a new school, job, or relationship, making new friends, and finding meaning in one's life. Other challenges are unique to the individual like discrimination, identity concerns, or trauma. I create a safe space for clients where I am present, genuine, and empathetic. Central to my approach is learning about my clients in a nonjudgmental, affirming way. I help clients develop a deeper understanding of how their past and current experiences influence their thoughts and reactions. The therapeutic interventions I use help clients develop skills to meet their challenges. Therapy is a collaboration that leads to enhanced self-awareness and effective problem-solving. With increased understanding, skills, support, and resources, we have more freedom to effectively cope in ways that are consistent with our values. Freedom means we are not repeating previous maladaptive patterns, allowing us to live the life we want, experiencing greater fulfillment and happiness.

Axis Mundi Center for Mental Health is a not-for-profit 501c3 charitable endeavor that provides affordable therapy and counseling services while seeking to address the growing and dire need for multi-culturally competent clinicians. Axis Mundi Center for Mental Health believes that authenticity is a big part of getting therapy right. We also know that one of the best indicators of therapy success is the rightness of fit between the therapist and the client! That means it's vital for you to have a sense of who we are, and that old models of "invisibility" in a therapist aren't going to contribute to you making a good choice. Our clinicians get that and identify themselves in ways that are personal, genuine, and still respectful and committed to all of the ways that therapy is all about YOU. We are a part of a growing trend in mental health services that acknowledges and seeks to address the need for therapists and counselors who are culturally humble. We are devoted to developing that awareness and skill-set, and are a diverse and growing group of practitioners who offer a variety of approaches to mental wellness…Traditional treatment like CBT and psychodynamic psychotherapy, holistic and somatic therapy methods, indigenous approaches, and spiritual perspectives are all offered. We work on a sliding scale from $30 and up depending on the practitioner. The initial consultation with our intake coordinator is free! We’re here to change and challenge what therapy has meant and who it’s been accessible to. Our group of licensed and pre-licensed clinicians have a varying range of expertise and styles. We invite you to visit our website or reach out for an intake to find folks who feel like a good fit!

Hey I'm Ari (she/her) and I am glad you've stumbled on my profile. Early adulthood is a time of intense change, individuation, social pressure, and self-doubt. I support teens and young adults with identity exploration, improving relationships with themselves and others, building resilience, and much more. If you're a college student looking for some mental health support, I'm looking forward to connecting with you to see if we may be a good fit. While I work with clients from a variety of backgrounds, identities, and presenting concerns, I have specialized training in supporting the mental health of LGBTQIA+, transgender & gender diverse adolescents and adults. Being a student is difficult enough as it is, but having to navigate gender, sexuality, identity, and relationships on top of these stressors is a lot. I help college-age students to improve their mental health in the midst of social, structural and institutional barriers. With a holistic understanding of the impact that societal oppression has on mental health I am dedicated to healing, wellness & joy. Our time together will be collaborative & affirming, and we will co-create a supportive space for you to increase self-understanding, improve your relationship with yourself and others, build resiliency and develop tangible tools you can use to improve your mental health. Finding a therapist you mesh with can be a process that takes time, resources and energy. I understand how important it is to work with a therapist who shows up as a whole, authentic person, so I prioritize genuine connection in our work. I invite you to contact me with questions you may have about working together and to schedule a no-cost 15 minute consultation so we can get to know one another. Head over to my website for more information about how I work.

Hi, I’m Samantha (she/her). I’m a mixed-race, queer therapist providing down-to-earth, individual, virtual therapy to teens & young adults. I support young people as they process trauma, move through life’s challenges, & shape lives that feel authentic & joyful to themselves. These years can be overwhelming, complex, & full of questions around identity, relationships, & how to feel safe in your own skin. I am here to be an ally through it all. I am particularly passionate about working with immigrants, queer, trans, & gender-expansive communities, & folks facing the impacts of trauma & systemic violence. My style is warm, thoughtful, and nonpathologizing – I believe healing occurs within a larger social context. If you think we'd be a good fit, email or call me to schedule a free 15 minute consultation call! I look forward to connecting with you. Currently practicing under supervision of Rayne Banneck, LMFT #124607 through Axis Mundi Center for Mental Health in California.

Life can be complicated, messy, and painful. I try to foster an environment in which it feels safe to talk about all of that messiness. I believe the human connection we form through therapy is key to healing and growth. If you choose to work with me, I will use our connection to determine when and how to shift in and out of various roles, so you might experience me as many things: investigator, mentor, observer, coach, ally. But above all, we engage together as fellow human beings living in this complex world, with the shared endeavor of improving your well-being. Good therapy relies on the fit between you and me. If something about my profile resonated with you, I would love to talk more. If you’re not sure about therapy or about whether I can help, maybe we can figure that out together. I charge nothing for our first meeting for that very reason. I’d like to hear your story.
