There’s no pressure to be perfect or “fix” yourself in this therapy room, and I will encourage exploration of what living imperfectly may feel like. Life can feel exhausting, and I am here to make space for that. I aim to support you in finding a greater sense of authenticity, community and joy in their lives. My clinical training focused on working with clients through an intersectional lens, something that shaped my passion for feminist therapy, where oppression, power and privilege are all named in the therapy room. I recognize the privileges I hold as a white, cisgender, middle-class woman, in working with all clients. I acknowledge cultural differences in therapy, and make space for each client’s experience with any form of intersecting identities. I am well aware of the impacts of patriarchy, white supremacy, heteronormativity, cisnormativity, colonialism, and fatphobia on our mental health, and aim to integrate a decolonized lens into all work I do. I bring anti-racist, anti-oppressive and restorative justice approaches to my work and am willing to be called in by you for any missteps that may happen. The therapeutic relationship is a space where I encourage you to model your ideal relationships and communication, even when it may feel uncomfortable.

I work with young adults who are using alcohol and other substances to cope. Many of my clients are able to reduce their use through weekly counseling with me in combination with group therapy. For clients who need a higher level of care, I can help them identify the appropriate outpatient detox, residential detox, residential treatment or day program. I see clients in person on Roswell Road in Buckhead/Sandy Springs and online throughout Georgia. I also work with young adults struggling with mood disorders or who feel stuck and who want to launch richer, more purposeful lives. Many of my clients are dealing with problems related to anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, or the difficult transition to adulthood. My clients learn skills to cope with big emotions in the moment, while also working to understand their core values, so that they can create a concrete action plan that aligns with who they really are. Prior to becoming a counselor, I taught creative writing. I use narrative therapy and creative writing prompts in my practice for clients who are interested. I have experience working with clients who are struggling with alcohol abuse and addiction. I work with clients curious about reducing their alcohol consumption and with newly sober clients who want support in their recovery. Christian worldview informs my practice, as I walk beside my clients in their understanding of who they are and who they want to become.

My goal is to increase communication, understanding and knowledge between people in order to create positive and productive growth. We will focus on barriers and obstacles that may be keeping us from living our best lives, and work together on mapping out a plan for success. Giving a voice to individuals who may be afraid to be heard is empowering and fulfilling. No one should be afraid to be happy and for me, it is my passion to be uplifting to all. I am a clinical psychologist and sub-specialize in couples and family therapy. I help couples and individuals deal with a variety of issues that may be interfering with relationships such as depression, anxiety, infidelity, poor communication, constant fighting, lack of motivation, or feelings of disconnection. My goal as a therapist is to give my clients the tools to achieve the kind of control that lets them be in charge. This is the only true path to a happy and fulfilling relationship. I also help parents deal with children who may be unmotivated, anxious, depressed, or oppositional. I believe parents need to be strategic with troubled children. Sessions focus on empowering parents with tools to reduce parent-child power struggles, stop self-defeating behavior and improve self-esteem and motivation to succeed. Clients leave my office having a clear idea of what they need to do to improve their circumstances. I aim to achieve positive change in the briefest time possible. I have had success with many clients that have seen multiple previous therapists.

I specialize in working with college and graduate students, young professionals, and couples, empowering them to develop skills to manage anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, and explore their self-identity. I also work with first generation and children of immigrants and am committed to maintaining a culturally-informed practice that honors the different ways that people experience and think of their identity. Navigating the complexities of life can be challenging, especially when you’re dealing with things like anxiety, relationship issues, and major life transitions. Maybe you're struggling with the pressure of classes, or with adjusting to your new environment and building relationships. Or you might feel like you’re always anxious about getting things right or not knowing what's going to happen, and worry is becoming exhausting. Perhaps you're at a point where you want to learn more about the impact of your cultural background on your identity and explore the experiences you've had. Going to therapy can be a courageous step towards personal growth and self-reflection to develop the tools needed to manage symptoms and align ourselves more with our goals. Whether you're navigating major life transitions, managing work-related stress, or facing challenges in your relationships, my practice provides a supportive space to help you build resilience. By incorporating evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with compassion and mindfulness focused models, I provide a non-judgemental and empathetic environment in my work with clients. For couples therapy, I utilize the Gottman method to help couples improve their relationships. I am licensed in the state of Georgia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC015213). I earned my M.S. in Counseling with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in Psychology, English, & Classical Studies from Emory University. I provide both in-person and virtual sessions to make therapy accessible and convenient for clients in the Decatur area and beyond. Whenever you’re ready to take a step towards therapy, I would be happy to speak with you and answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process over an initial consultation. Are you feeling overwhelmed, unseen, or stuck in a pattern that no longer serves you? Maybe it's anxiety that won't quiet down, a relationship wearing you thin, or a life that looks fine on paper but doesn't feel like yours. You don't have to figure it out alone. I'm Wendy, a counselor based in Atlanta, working with adults navigating trauma, grief, major life transitions, career stress, and the weight of complicated families and relationships. I offer sessions in English and Mandarin. My work is grounded in a Humanistic-Existential approach, drawing on DBT, ACT, and Gestalt. Together, we'll look beyond symptoms to understand what's shaping your experiences, choices, and ways you've learned to cope. When it helps, we'll also build concrete skills: navigating hard conversations, regulating emotions, and making decisions that feel like yours. As a first-generation immigrant and former corporate professional, I know firsthand how disorienting it is to rebuild yourself on new ground. Being human is messy and layered. I don't hold all the answers, but I am your fellow traveler. Reach out and let's explore how we might work together. 无论你正在经历人生转变、关系困惑,还是在不同文化、家庭与自我期待之间挣扎,你都值得被倾听、理解和支持。

Does it ever feel hard (or impossible) to just be yourself? You hear it all the time…people say, “just be you,” but it feels out of reach, too utterly terrifying, or too risky. Or maybe you are still discovering who you are. You’re asking questions and getting curious about aspects of your identity, how you view the world, and how you show up authentically in it. Maybe something shifted recently and you are trying to rediscover your sense of self while your world feels upside down. I help people find their most authentic self. In therapy, we get curious about different parts of ourselves. Parts that have had to stay hidden, parts that respond to triggers, parts we’ve been afraid to face. Working together, I'll support you as you deepen your understanding of your full self and increasingly show up as congruent, authentic, and fully you.
