Therapists for college students near University of Chicago
I help people manage difficult emotions, move through transitions, explore their sense of self, and feel more secure in their relationships. Many of my clients have experience with trauma, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or fears surrounding conflict. As a queer feminist therapist, I am passionate about working with people who have experienced marginalization because of their gender or sexuality.
I often see transgender and gender-questioning individuals, people in the sex work industry, and people navigating kink and/or polyamory dynamics in their relationships. I work with people who have or are experiencing a range of mental health needs, from depression and anxiety, to navigating grief and complex trauma. Whether you have experienced life-long mental health difficulties or are facing new challenges in your life, I will welcome you into the therapeutic space openly and without judgment.

During my eight years on staff in college counseling centers, I fully enjoyed helping college and graduate students be their best selves. Sometimes that involved offering concrete information about something specific, such as ADHD, and sometimes that has involved helping a person feel better about themselves or get more satisfaction out of life and out of relationships. I enjoy working together with students who are interested in exploring the obstacles to getting what they want out of life.
I specialize in working with young adults and adults facing anxiety and mood disorders, using proven approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). My therapeutic style is all about collaboration—you are the expert in your life, and I’m here to guide you as we create a personalized plan tailored to your needs and goals.

I help clients when it comes to problem solving life stressors, developing healthy coping mechanisms, and creating an awareness of their needs and wants in life so that they can live the life they imagined. I know from my own path to wellness that life’s challenges may seem unmanageable at times. However, if an individual is committed to change, they are capable of their full potential and can increase their skills through working on their goals. It is important to remember that we all make mistakes and that no one is perfect. Working through life’s challenges, practicing self-forgiveness and having a growth mindset is something that takes time, commitment and practice. I believe that every individual is capable of change if they are willing to try. I specialize in working with individuals who tend to overthink, have been labeled as "too self-aware", intellectualizers, or find themselves knowing their problem, but struggling to feel relief from it.
