Therapists for college students near Boston College
Sarah Brady LICSW
I am committed to creating a collaborative and open-minded atmosphere where you can come to know yourself more fully. People often seek psychotherapy when they feel overwhelmed and have reached a breaking point. They want to feel more grounded in who they are and the choices they make. Therapy offers a dedicated space to identify, understand and eventually transform painful experiences that have lead to suffering and frustration. My approach is warm and engaged. I have experience working in varied settings (inpatient units, partial programs, and community clinics) and with adults from all walks of life many of whom have lived through various traumatic experiences. I particularly enjoy working with graduate students and first gen college students navigating life transitions. I deeply respect the courage it takes to come to therapy and I welcome hearing from you.
Emmeline Diller M.D.
I am a psychotherapist and psychiatrist with decades of experience helping people overcome depression, anxiety, relationship issues and other life problems. I see patients weekly in my office for insight-oriented and cognitive behavioral therapy. Please contact me if you are interested in doing deep work to improve your life. Please be aware that the following are outside my practice area: ADD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, acute suicidality, addiction problems, sexual trauma, and patients who have been psychiatrically hospitalized. I prescribe medication as needed for patients who are in therapy with me, but I don't do medication management alone. In general, I see women ages 20-40. I have many years' experience working with students. I graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, and I am Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Therapy serves as an opportunity to be curious – to explore the patterns and narratives we carry, repeat, and, at times, feel bound by. Through gentle curiosity, we create space for healing and give ourselves the opportunity to blossom into more authentic versions of ourselves. My therapeutic approach is grounded in psychodynamic and attachment theories. With compassion and warmth, I listen closely to the unique story of your life, honoring the experiences that have shaped how you relate to yourself and others. Together, we will untangle these experiences and cultivate hope that life can improve in ways that feel deeply meaningful. I offer individual psychotherapy to adults and older adults with a variety of presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, grief, bereavement, trauma, relational difficulties, and identity exploration. Importantly, I strive to remain mindful of the nuanced ways our identities shape our experiences and influence how we move through the world. I have specialized training in geropsychology and am passionate about helping adults navigate the complexities of aging, later-in-life transitions, caregiving, existential concerns, and ageism. My experience also includes working in college counseling centers, memory disorder clinics, community mental health, and with veterans.

Many people struggle with various aspects of their lives, be it identity, relationships, work/school, or past experiences that affect how they feel and navigate the world. I work with many young adults who may seem high functioning at first glance but struggle with depression, anxiety, stress, or other emotional issues. I have particular experience supporting Asians and Asian Americans and other BIPOC people navigating issues of race, identity and culture. Talk therapy and medications can be a powerful way to help people process, make sense of, and change these patterns that hold them back from living the life they want.

I actively engage with my clients to help them identify and articulate their distress. We work together to discover the counter-productive behaviors and thought patterns leading to this distress. We then work together again on challenging and changing those thoughts and actions. You can expect a therapy experience that is engaged, solution focused, and interactive.

Life can feel like a roller coaster full of twists and turns. You may lose track of your goals and rely on unhealthy coping skills to help you, including over/under eating, excessive exercise, self-deprecation, doubt, isolation, irritability, over-thinking, increased impulsivity...the list goes on. During these times you may experience tough transitions ranging from the loss of a loved one, sudden change in career and/or relocation, acculturation challenges and/or traumatic experiences that result in confusion, pain and other emotions you may feel flooded with. I am here to help you process and make sense of your ride. For the last 12+ years I have helped my clients feel confident and self-assured. I use various talk and expressive therapy modalities, to assist others in unmasking the complex layers of their experiences and emotions to embrace their inner strength, leadership and uniqueness. I confidently feel that you deserve to be the best version of you at all times. Whether this be your first time in therapy or not I encourage you to take the leap and allow me to help you achieve your goals. I will be open to your needs and finding a flow that elicits the change you seek.

Pivot Counseling and Performance
Being a student-athlete means navigating two demanding worlds at once. Between the pressure to perform, the expectations of coaches and teammates, academic responsibilities, and the challenges of everyday life, it can be difficult to find space to focus on yourself. My goal is to help student-athletes develop the psychological skills, self-awareness, and resilience to navigate these demands while building a healthier relationship with both sport and life. As a therapist with Pivot Counseling and Performance, I work with individuals who want to better understand themselves, work through personal challenges, and develop the tools to move forward with greater confidence and purpose. My approach to psychotherapy integrates evidence-based principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, experiential therapies, and performance psychology. Together, we work to identify patterns that may be holding you back, develop more flexible ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions, and clarify the values that matter most to you. For college athletes, this work can include managing performance anxiety, navigating injuries and setbacks, coping with burnout, adjusting to the demands of collegiate athletics, and balancing athletic identity with the broader question of who you want to become. Therapy can also provide space to address challenges beyond sport, including traumatic experiences, relationships, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. I believe that mental performance and mental health are deeply connected. The goal is not simply to perform better, but to develop the capacity to respond effectively to challenges without losing sight of what makes life meaningful. Whether you're working through a difficult stretch, looking to strengthen your mental game, or trying to figure out what's next, therapy offers an opportunity to build skills that extend well beyond the playing field.

Hi! I’m a warm, person-centered therapist who tailors each session to your unique needs. I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and interpersonal therapy — but more importantly, I meet you where you are. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. You’re the expert in your story, and we’ll work together to develop tools, process challenges, and celebrate growth, big or small. I specialize in supporting adolescents and young adults managing academic pressure, identity concerns, anxiety, and trauma. I also offer comprehensive psychological assessments to help students access accommodations in college — like extended time or alternative testing settings.
