Therapists for college students near Cambridge, MA
What if getting better didn't mean spending years talking about everything that's ever gone wrong? I work with college and grad students to build real, lasting change by providing insight and skills that actually help. With over a decade of clinical work in the US and abroad, I've helped young adults manage anxiety, quiet the perfectionism and imposter syndrome that follow them into every exam and internship, while creating a healthy type of confidence that remains under pressure. My clients describe working with me as supportive, direct, collaborative, and nothing like what they expected therapy to be. We figure out what's driving the pattern. Then we work on changing it. I specialize in: anxiety, burnout and stress, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and people-pleasing. My approach pulls from CBT, ACT, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness, grounded in a trauma-informed model. You don't have to have it figured out to start. Currently offering Online Therapy throughout Massachusetts, New York, Colorado, Vermont, and Florida. Whether you are in Boston, NYC, or Denver, I am ready when you are.
A client centered approach to therapy starts with ensuring the client and therapist have a strong therapeutic relationship. Not all clients and therapist will be a good match. I work to fully understand my clients lived experience so that I can work with you to achieve your therapeutic goals. I use an eclectic approach to therapy, meaning I may use a variety of evidence based approaches to achieve results.

I work primarily with those suffering from chronic illness. Difficult to treat medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, chronic Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, Lupus, etc. are often poorly understood, and it can be very difficult for patients to find the help and support they need. I teach my clients tools for coping with and managing every day life with these conditions, in addition to mind body medicine practices to help alleviate symptoms and to decrease stress. I have recently started offering Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy as a way to cope with life stressors or trauma.
I work primarily with young adults and adults navigating substance use concerns and related mental health challenges. My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a strong emphasis on skills-based interventions, relapse prevention, and collaborative treatment planning. I utilize a trauma-informed and strengths-based framework to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, build healthier coping strategies, and increase emotional regulation. I have experience supporting individuals in early recovery, those working toward sustained sobriety, and clients managing co-occurring substance use and mental health concerns. I provide individual therapy and psychoeducation, and I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space that promotes accountability, insight, and long-term change. I work with clients from all religious and spiritual backgrounds and respect each client’s beliefs, integrating them into treatment when clinically appropriate.

I work well with students who are navigating anxiety, transitions, or feeling stuck, and who want to better understand themselves while building sustainable change. My degree is from Northeastern University where I graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and became Licensed in 1996. Most recently, I was the Director of Psychology for Wrentham Developmental Center and an Area Psychologist for the Department of Developmental Services. Previously, I had my own private practice where I facilitated numerous social groups, provided individual and family therapy, and served as a Consultant to Cranston ARC, and Bristol Community College. In joining Needham Psychotherapy Associates, I am returning to my passion for clinical work. My approach would be considered eclectic, involving systems work, motivational interviewing, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, positive behavioral supports, and psychodynamic or insight-oriented work. In my view, the modality of therapy is often determined by the issues that one presents with as well as the style and comfort level of both the therapist and the client. It is important to me that the process of therapy is collaborative, sometimes humorous, and that clients are empowered to make choices in the course of their treatment. Simultaneously, I think there are times when clients need to be challenged to make further growth and progress. I love stories and the stories of people’s lives. In therapy, my style would involve asking a lot of open-ended questions to learn more about your story and your journey. Therapy should involve clients feeling, safe, challenged, and learning strategies and approaches to handle your problems more effectively. In the end, ideally clients will feel better about themselves and their world. Most definitely, I believe that there are times that clients should laugh in therapy, as humor and laughing are an important part of healing. I love working with young adults and the new ways they have of looking at the world as well as helping them navigate their present challenges and future transitions.
