ABOUT US NORTHEAST WELLNESS is a team of interdisciplinary providers who are passionate about mental health. The NWELL team has years of healthcare experience and expertise in various areas of the healthcare system. This allows us to work with each individual to address each person's specific mental health need. Our Approach to Medication Management (Psychopharmacology) At NORTHEAST WELLNESS, we provide care combining medication management along with psychotherapy. When medication management is indicated for one's care, we try to initiate one medication at a time and continue to monitor and adjust as needed to achieve reduction of the targeted symptom. Our goal is to provide the best care to each individual and to decrease the possibility of an adverse reaction.
I believe that all therapy starts by building a detailed understanding of each person in the context of a developing therapeutic relationship. I will work with you collaboratively to develop a plan for your success based on your specific goals. Often, this plan includes enhancing knowledge, increasing self-awareness, and learning new skills. I offer an integration of therapeutic approaches, including relational (focusing on interpersonal interactions), mindfulness (emphasizing awareness and attention to one's experience), and cognitive-behavioral techniques (focusing on the impact of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors). I work to help individuals managing anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relational stressors. In addition, I have specialized training & experience in helping people heal from trauma. I have training and experience working with couples looking to improve connection and overcome difficulties in healthier manners.
Welcome to Meridian Psychotherapy Associates, we support the unique needs of college students. We understand that the college experience can be an exciting yet challenging time, filled with academic pressures, personal growth, and various transitions. Our goal is to provide a specialized and nurturing environment where college students can find solace, understanding, and guidance as they navigate this critical phase of their lives. Our approach to individual therapy for college students is anchored in a deep understanding of the issues they commonly encounter. We address a wide range of concerns, including stress management, anxiety, depression, academic pressures, time management, relationship challenges, identity exploration, and more. Our trauma-informed therapists are skilled in helping college students cope with the complexities of their academic, social, and emotional worlds. For college students in committed relationships, we offer couple therapy to support them in fostering healthy communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening their bonds. We recognize that maintaining a healthy relationship while attending college can be demanding, and our couple therapy sessions are tailored to address the unique challenges couples may face during this phase of life. We also offer adult family therapy, recognizing that family dynamics can play a significant role in a college student's well-being. Our family therapy sessions provide a safe space to explore and resolve familial conflicts, improve communication with parents and siblings, and foster a supportive environment for personal growth and development. To enhance accessibility and flexibility, we offer both in-office and telehealth services. We understand that college schedules can be demanding and unpredictable, so our telehealth option allows students to receive therapy conveniently from their dorms, apartments, or any private space. At Meridian Psychotherapy, we prioritize the mental health and well-being of college students. Our licensed therapists are not only skilled clinicians but also empathetic allies who genuinely care about the success and happiness of our student clients. We recognize the importance of providing a confidential and non-judgmental space for students to share their concerns and explore their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. Our commitment goes beyond therapy sessions, as we strive to empower college students with coping skills and resources they can carry forward throughout their academic journey and beyond. We work collaboratively with students, empowering them to overcome challenges, develop resilience, and build a strong foundation for their future. Looking forward to helping you achieve mental health by maximizing your strengths. I take a holistic approach to care that incorporates therapy with thoughtful medication management. Each individual's journey is unique, as is the way in which we process our environment(internal & external). I look forward to partnering with you. Treatment is a wellness journey, with an aim to enhance motivation and achieve clear goals. I am a firm believer in a multidimensional approach to care in order to achieve sustained wellness. My framework incorporates the understanding that we may all experience periods where life management skills alone are not enough and medication augmentation or intervention may be useful in achieving balance and wellness. I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Through direct care experience, my knowledge, motivation and passion for assisting people seeking wellness, has grown exponentially. My experience includes PMHNP Residency training in the VA Boston Healthcare System as well as inpatient Nursing Director at BIDMC.
I truly enjoy working collaboratively with patients seeking help to gain insight, make changes in how they cope with stress and emotions, alter stuck patterns in their lives, and learn new, more effective ways to relate interpersonally. I would love to meet you and see if we can connect to improve whatever has been causing you pain or struggle. You may be dealing with everyday stresses of college life and demands, adjustment to a new college environment, complicated or traumatic family history, or trying to achieve relief or remain stable with significant diagnoses such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, mild to moderate eating disorders, and emotional intensity. I have extensive experience treating survivors of trauma. These experiences can lead to an array of difficulties including PTSD, dissociation, anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation. I am experienced at working with any of these problems/diagnoses and more. I work with each person individually to identify treatment goals and decide what approach might be the best fit. I tend to integrate treatment models in my thinking and practice, with intensive training completed in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and advanced training in psychodynamic treatment. My style is warm and non-judgmental, sensitive, deeply caring, and very appreciative of humor and creativity- these are incredible human resources. I look forward to meeting you and hope we can forge an important supportive relationship that also provides change and promotes growth in these pivotal years.

I work with adults, adolescents, couples and families to help folks live full and meaningful lives. If you choose to work with me, I will assume you’re coming with problems in your life or your relationships that you’d like to work on. I will hold steadfast to the idea that people are not problems, problems are problems. And while therapy might not be the exact solution to what ails you, it can help a good bit. And I want to help. I’m in this work because I believe in the power of talk therapy to bring about positive changes to our lives. I’ve spent a good bit of time learning how to listen well, ask thoughtful questions, and empathize with my clients. I work with clients experiencing a wide range of issues like depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, and general stuckness. I’m confident enough to know that I can be a great fit to some folks and humble enough to know that I’ll be a terrible fit to others. And I’m pretty sure this blurb isn’t enough to determine which is which, but a free 15-20 minutes on the phone could get us close to knowing if therapy together is worthwhile. Let’s chat. I trained at the Brookline Center for Community Mental Health and the Boston College School of Social Work. I’ve done advanced training in narrative therapy through the Narrative Therapy Initiative.

Currently accepting new patients for in person therapy in Watertown and nearby areas, including Boston, Cambridge, Newton, Brookline, Wellesley, Lexington, and Belmont, MA, as well as virtual therapy across MA and NY. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, specializing in anxiety and mood disorders, trauma, and attachment and relationship challenges. With deep respect for life’s complexity, I use an integrative, personalized approach to help you understand patterns, grow insight, develop practical tools, deepen connection, and move toward a life of greater clarity, meaning, and emotional well-being.
Hi! I'm a queer, trans, white, non-binary clinical social worker who has been in practice for over ten years. I love working with young adults and adults around issues concerning identity, family, relationships and systems. I use a social justice lens inclusive of healthy bodies at any size and ability, as well as socio-economics, race and ethnicity.
I believe one of the bravest things you can do is begin to understand your own story. What often brings us to therapy are life events that we did not sign up for or want to face. Unanticipated endings, dealing with uncertainties and fear can bring us to crossroads. These intersections present an opportunity for our hearts to grow and for our lives to align with our true north. My primary work has been in medical settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and community health. I believe that when working with individuals, the human connection is the core of what makes therapy meaningful and effective. If you are dealing with old patterns, a new health diagnosis, or experiencing significant loss or relationship issues, my practice might be a good fit. I welcome you to give me a call to discuss further whether I can be a good fit for your needs.
Emma Atwood is a licensed certified social worker whose therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that strong client-therapist relationships are the foundation for meaningful change. Her approach integrates strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic, relational-cultural, and trauma informed approaches. She has specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR) to provide therapy to treat trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Her approach strives to empower clients as active participants in their own healing journey. Emma works with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment-related challenges, relationship issues, and identity exploration. She welcomes clients from all cultural backgrounds and strives to create a safe, affirming space for all aspects of identity, including gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion. Clients can expect a collaborative, culturally sensitive, and non-judgmental space where they feel safe to share openly. Emma strives to help clients better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, and develop tools to manage life’s challenges. Together, the client and Emma will explore how past experiences share current patterns, while building new skills for emotional regulation, healthier relationships, and self-compassion. People often ask how they can get rid of their anxiety. Emma says, “The short answer is that you don’t. Our anxiety is telling us something, and only when we learn how to sit with it long enough to listen, will we understand the function it serves and how to manage it. The best therapist for anxiety is one who will help you acquire coping strategies to reduce your anxiety (cognitive-behavioral approach) but also guide insight into the origins of your anxiety and the core beliefs maintaining it (psychodynamic approach). By exploring your anxiety at multiple levels and depths, you can learn to better recognize, understand, and manage your anxiety.” Emma offers in-person therapy in the Boston office, as well as online via a secure video platform for patients located throughout Massachusetts. She has appointments available in the daytime. You can become a patient by completing the New Client Profile form (https://leektherapy.com/form) or calling 508-296-5631.
