I have extensive experience working with people who have experienced loss in their life. I have worked many years in the hospice setting and it would be my honor to help you find hope and meaning. I enjoy working with adults struggling through a life transition, college stress, medical issue, professional burnout, caregiver burnout, trauma, anxiety/perinatal anxiety, or grief. My clients desire to connect to an internal sense of sturdiness that allows them to live more empowered, hopeful and meaningful lives. I have a clinical specialty working with people who are struggling to find connection in their relationships and are at a crossroad in their life (divorce, grief & loss, new parents, affair recovery, professional burnout). I would be honored to help you make sense of your life and rebuild again. I strive to provide a compassionate, gentle, safe, and trustworthy environment that fosters a strong, therapeutic relationship. I operate from a holistic therapy approach that is person-centered and draws on the strengths of my clients. My approach integrates a variety of theories to help clients gain a better understanding of themselves and their emotions. I am dedicated to creating a non-judgmental and empathic space where my clients feel seen and heard. I value and honor the unique story of each client, as well as the vulnerability it takes to reach out for support. Together, we will hold curiosity about your struggles and begin a journey of growth and healing.

I was a psychiatrist prior to immigrating to the United States in 2001. I currently work as rehabilitation counselor, case manager for people with disabilities and also work as a mental health counselor independently. I am a good listener and passionate about each individual's life journey, self-identity, acculturation, relationship and career path. When we sit down to listen, learn and share different perspectives, we unlock entirely new ways of seeing ourselves. Stress never goes away, but we can adjust how to react toward stress, build resilience for ourselves and healthy relationships with others.

I believe in equity, equality, and justice for all humans. You well be welcomed here and safe to be yourself regardless of gender, sexuality, race, size, and relationship structure. I am an unwavering ally for the LGBTQ+ community. I approach life, and therapy, from a trauma-informed, social justice, and anti-racist lens. I believe all humans are experiencing some degree of grief and trauma, whether from the ongoing stress of the pandemic/politics, and/or from personal life stressors. Many people have been expending all of their emotional (and physical) energy on just "keeping it together" and surviving. My goal is to offer a safe space for you to slow down, breathe, and be heard. As a therapist, I have the privilege of witnessing the resiliency of the human spirit and the power of the human brain. I will walk alongside you through this journey. I will listen. I will also encourage growth, healing, and emotional development, at your pace. Many of my clients are working towards improvement in the areas of anxiety, grief, trauma, family issues, life transitions or changes, physical symptoms (often caused by emotional stress), and relationship struggles. I often work with people who describe themselves as highly sensitive, perfectionistic, people pleasers, or high achievers. I view counseling as a holistic process and take an integrative approach to working with clients.

You may have been holding things together okay, but lately it's been harder. It may be harder to sleep, do the things you want to do, or maybe you don't want to do anything at all. It's been too overwhelming and you don't know how to move forward. Emotions can take control sometimes. Other times we have difficulty engaging with them. I work with clients who want to learn how to navigate their emotions and process events that don't make sense. I help my clients engage with their emotions safely and confidently. I provide a Christian emphasis if desired. You don't have to keep doing this alone. I can help you process your emotions so you experience the freedom you're looking for. We will go at your pace.

I am a great fit for those experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, stress, low confidence, working through traumatic experiences, difficulty with self-love and within the perinatal stage. It is amazing how life can take us in so many different directions? Some roads may be exciting and new, but there are also times when we come across a challenge that may be difficult to handle on our own; we feel unable to deal with it. Counseling can assist in the process of managing one's feelings, challenges and struggles. You do not need to manage this on your own, talking with someone can help with giving you direction, help you understand why you are feeling this way and how to make things better for yourself and /or others around you. I have 9 years of experience with all types of issues including grief and loss, life challenges, LGBTQ+, anxiety, depression, chronic/terminal illness, and a variety of trauma. I utilize techniques that assist each unique individual with the process of addressing any personal challenges and achieving change. You may be feeling hurt, defeated, or lost... counseling can help you understand that you are not alone. Whether healing from your past, coping with situations & issues in the present, or letting go of fears of the future; I am here to listen, help & understand you as an individual, with care & without judgment. If you've gotten this far in my introduction, are still interested and in need of support after the recent tragic events on the MSU campus... please feel free to reach out. I am private pay only but am willing offer several sessions for free and/or sliding scale to help you through this time. I have a variety of times open that I'm happy to share directly with you.

Do you find it challenging to relax and enjoy the present moment, especially in difficult times filled with fear and uncertainty? Are you struggling to quiet your inner critic? Do you have a hard time sitting with intense emotions, naming them, and expressing them to others? I work with female and queer clients who want to feel more grounded, present, and empowered in their lives. Things such as trauma, substance use, anxiety, and depression can impact our ability to connect with our bodies, feel our feelings, and experience safety in the present moment. In addition to talk therapy, I offer somatic therapy: Brainspotting (which is similar to EMDR) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Somatic therapy uses a bottom-up approach of feeling vs. thinking. The body contains so much intuitive wisdom, and being able to sit with challenging sensations – in a safe and controlled way – can lead to better emotion regulation. Therapy can be challenging, so I strive to provide a light-hearted, non-judgmental space where humor and laughter become a part of the process. If I could be a good fit for you, email me to schedule a free consultation, or to schedule an initial session.
