Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
Hello! I am a mental health therapist (LLC). I offer both in person and virtual mental health therapy appointments. I have a wide range of experiences and am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I believe that counseling is a collaborative process where clients are able to explore within a safe, affirmative, and compassionate space. By centering on the client’s voice and experience, healing is supported with self-empowerment and compassion. I also recognize that there are connections between the mind and body which can allow for alternative methods of healing to be explored so the best fit can be found for each individual. My current clinical interests include concerns related to sex, sexuality, and gender identity as well as life phase adjustments and relational issues. While interested in learning many psychological techniques, I maintain a framework focused on existential theory and strengths-based practices.
“Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must. But take the step” – unknown. Maneuvering through life’s troubled waters can sometimes be overwhelming. In today’s hectic fast-paced world sometimes it’s good to let your guard down, relax, and release all those emotions and troubles in a safe, comfortable environment. I am ready to help you heal, explore, and gain insight into resolving any issues to live a more serene, well-balanced life. I am passionate about helping clients bring back the laughter, confidence, and security. I am caring and committed with comprehensive treatments designed for each individual I work with. I have experience in working with individuals of diverse backgrounds in all stages of life from childhood issues to adolescence to adulthood. I have assisted individuals experiencing emotional and behavioral impairments as well as those struggling with adjusting to life’s hurdles and transitioning into new beginnings. Life can be messy, unpredictable, wonderful, and fragile – and it can also be overwhelming. I value opportunities to slow down and listen to our bodies, emotions, and needs. Therapy is a space where you can do that - and not do it alone. I strive to create an environment where there is an authentic and trusting human connection. Throughout the therapeutic process, I aim to help you recognize how relationships, family system, core beliefs, and lived experiences have impacted and continue to impact your sense of self, worldviews, behaviors, decisions, and patterns. As an Asian/Filipina therapist, I also recognize the impact of intersecting identities and cultural biases on navigating the complexities of life and mental health. I offer to work alongside you as you connect with safety, engage with emotions, explore defenses, build authenticity, and cultivate hope - all the while we both affirm your inner strength and worth. I primarily work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, identity issues, relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, and women’s issues. I work with individuals with various backgrounds and identities, including but not limited to those who are in the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. I'm a Licensed Social Worker in the state of Michigan and a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). I hold a double major BA in Psychology and Biology through Hope College and an MSW from Western Michigan University. I have been working in the mental health field since 2017 and as a psychotherapist since 2022.
Many of the people I see feel overwhelmed by ADHD and want support from someone who truly understands how it affects daily life. Some also carry trauma or PTSD and are looking for a safe place to work through what they have been holding. They want practical tools, honest feedback, and a therapist who understands how their brain works.
I work from an attachment and relational lens in therapy. I incorporate emotion focused interventions, which are beneficial for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, mood concerns, or relational concerns.
We offer in-person or online sessions from the comfort of your own space. Therapy designed to fit your life, at your pace and on your time.
