Therapists for college students near 27705
Hi, I'm Brianna (she/hers)! I specialize in working with college students experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, and/or managing life transitions and relationship issues. Typical concerns can include adjusting to college, managing academic or athletic stress (including injuries), health anxiety including complex or chronic illnesses, and relationship stress, as examples. I work with individuals seeking to better understand themselves, develop healthier coping strategies and discover ways to improve their overall well-being, feel less anxious or stressed, and feel better in their day to day life. My approach is warm and collaborative to foster a trusting relationship. Using a blend of relational, attachment-based perspectives and skill building as needed, I help clients explore new ideas, challenge negative patterns or ways of thinking, and build resilience. You can expect me to share feedback, gently challenge ideas, and use humor in sessions. I'm also trained in Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), an evidence-based treatment for chronic pain, and provide this therapy as well. If you’re interested in exploring new ways to manage life's challenges, improve your well-being, and feel more resilient please feel free to reach out to set up a free consult call. I look forward to speaking with you!
We are a team of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHC) and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) that share the goal of creating a welcoming and safe space to explore mental health concerns, develop tools and resources, and provide support in becoming the you that you aspire to be. We chose the name Tides, not only for our shared love of the beach but also because in life "tides" or circumstances often change and we strive to be agents of positive changing tides in the lives of people we serve.
Counseling is like creating a work of art. It can be messy, beautiful, and transformative, but overall, it is a collaboration between client and therapist. I believe that you are the expert on your life and as such use a person-centered approach leaning into a balance of body, mind, and emotion. Doing so allows me to work with you to identify and reach specific goals, which assist in achieving well-being for emotional, physical and mental health. I enjoy working with a wide array of cultures and lifestyles. I currently offer telehealth sessions and see persons of all ages and backgrounds. I am trained in child and adolescent trauma, adult trauma, EMDR, human sexuality, grief, and somatic therapy, amongst other areas. I have a special focus in women’s trauma, adverse childhood experiences and military trauma, utilizing somatic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for the treatment of trauma, depression, chronic pain, anxiety, and sexual dysfunction.
Blue Ridge Mental Health provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management through virtual appointments. Dr. Shawn Faust, DNP sees and treats patients aged 17 years and older dealing with anxiety, depression, insomnia, bipolar, OCD and other mental health issues. Dr. Michael Wilson, M.D. evaluates for Autism Spectrum Disorder in patients of all ages. We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicaid plans, and self-pay patients. We do offer sliding scale for self-pay patients.
Overcoming – Healing – Thriving These three words encompass my goal for each person who walks through my door. I believe in treating the whole person, not just the problem. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside each of my clients, helping them overcome their struggles, heal from their pain, and thrive in their lives. I predominantly work with college aged and adult females experiencing: ● Depression and other mood disorders ● Anxiety ● ADHD ● Low self-esteem ● Conflict and communication ● Family and relationship challenges ● Trauma and grief
I believe everyone deserves a space to process, heal, and experience empathy and validation. Good outcomes in therapy can be expected if you feel the therapist genuinely cares and has your best interest in heart and mind. Your therapist must also have skill, knowledge, and experience with clinically proven therapy techniques. I provide both to you as my client. I offer an integrated approach that includes EMDR, person-centered, CBT, DBT skills, and trauma focused treatment; however, our time together is not limited to these theories of practice. Together, we can explore the barriers that are keeping you from living the life you want.
Hello and welcome. Thanks for stopping by. My areas of specialization include Anxiety and Loneliness Relationship and Intimacy Issues Grief and Loss If you are having trouble in these areas, reach out. Let's see what we can do. Warmly Lisa

I specialize with working with young adults dealing with life transitions. I have experience working in the university and hospital setting. I have an interest in working with young adults, college students, and adults. I use both CBT and DBT in my practice. My colleagues would describe me to have a calming presence and open mind. I look forward to meeting you and working together.
You’re already doing something hard just by being here. Reaching out for support isn’t easy—especially when life feels overwhelming and everything inside you feels tangled. It’s not just one thing. It’s everything. Confusion, stress, heartbreak, fear, loneliness, sadness, anger—sometimes all at once. And when you’ve been through difficult experiences, it makes sense that this has become your normal. But you’re tired of pretending you’re okay. Tired of holding it all together while quietly falling apart. When was the last time you felt present in your own life? Confident in who you are? Or even just able to slow down and take care of yourself without guilt? What if you didn’t have to keep pushing your feelings down or hiding from them? What if you could actually understand them—and feel more at ease in your own mind and body? I specialize in working with young women who feel overwhelmed by life, relationships, and their own thoughts—often shaped by both past and present pain. Together, we create space to process what you’ve been carrying so you can find clarity, steadiness, and a stronger sense of yourself again.
Serving predominately the LGBTQIA+ community, Half Moon clinicians take a radically authentic approach to treatment. While we maintain professional boundaries, we also recognize how profoundly healing it can be to work with a provider who is willing to “walk the walk,” be honest, laugh with you, and own their own struggle. We have a great group of highly skilled relational therapists on staff who can support you though a wide range of life’s challenges, including difficult family dynamics, anxiety and perfectionism, depression and low motivation, loneliness, grief, and more. I have been practicing for 15 years and I love what I do. Mental health is just as important as physical health. Our mind, body, and soul all work together to create who we are. It is important that we work to get each of these aspects of our lives healthy. My therapy approach is eclectic style. I truly believe that each individual has unique needs that I want to ensure I meet. I have a great deal of experience in working with college students. I specialize in treating anxiety, adjustment, and life stressor issues, trauma, depression, family dynamics, anger management, ADHD, developmental issues, self-esteem, issues children and adolescents face, and more. My approach I utilize an eclectic style of therapy to meet each individual's needs. My primary approaches to therapy are CBT, Client-Centered, Solution Focused, Positive Psychology, TF-CBT, and Play Therapy. My focus I have experience in working with children, adolescents, adults and families. I enjoy working with all ages. My communication style My therapeutic environment and communication are open, non-confrontational, and judgment-free. I believe therapy is a collaborative process. My journey to mental healthcare When I was in high school, I took a Psychology class and fell in love with learning about the mind and how it works. I have always had a passion for helping others, and immediately knew that therapy was what I wanted to choose as a career. It has been the best decision I have made. My goals for you When working with clients on setting goals, I encourage them to create their own goals. I will provide input as well, and help them navigate this. I want their goals to be realistic and attainable. I want my clients to understand that therapy is their space and time to create their own goals. My first session with you In the first session I will inquire with clients what their goals are and what brings them into therapy. I will complete a biopsychosocial assessment with them and gather information to help me best meet their needs. I will introduce myself and my therapeutic approach, and allow for any questions they have.

As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), I specialize in providing highly tailored therapeutic support and executive functioning coaching exclusively to college students at Indiana University and around the country. Whether your student is navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, or a deficit in motivation and executive functioning, my goal is to deliver proactive, highly structured intervention. Through our bespoke consulting packages, we ensure students thrive both academically and personally, without falling through the cracks of large university systems. Specialized Therapeutic & Executive Function Support I provide focused, high-touch support tailored to the unique academic and personal demands of the college years, including: Executive Functioning & Motivation: Installing robust weekly schedules, study rules, and workflows to combat paralysis and build self-driven habits. Targeted Mental Health Care: Private therapeutic support for college-specific challenges, including anxiety, depression, and substance use. Academic Monitoring: Ongoing oversight, accountability check-ins, and early-warning risk detection to catch issues before they escalate into academic crises. Why Families Choose Our Practice Bespoke Support Tiers: From targeted Individual Counseling, theSemester Launch setups or my 12-month Semester Concierge engagements, we provide the exact level of intervention your family requires. Executive-Level Advisory: We act as a "family office" for your students well-being, providing parents with regular status briefs and clear guidance on what to monitor versus what to ignore. Proactive Risk Containment: We do not wait for a crisis. We install systems, monitor academic progress, and coordinate a proactive strategy to ensure consistency and long-term independence. Recognized Authority: As the author of The Insiders Guide to Parenting and The Insider's Guide to College, and host of The Better Semester podcast, my frameworks are grounded in nearly 25 years of specialized clinical experience. Background & Expertise With a Master's degree in Community Counseling and extensive clinical training, I have dedicated my career to collegiate mental health. Much of the time we feel we should have it all together. We have to know who we are, have a career path, a life plan, walk the straight and narrow. But you may feel you are standing on the edge of a cliff and fear jumping into an abyss. Or your path is filled with roadblocks. You may feel unfulfilled by the path you started but afraid to be different, or make a change. Traumatic events out of your control may be keeping you from feeling whole, feeling yourself, feeling worthy. Or the stresses, unpredictability, and injustices of life just wane on you. You seek a place to process, grow, and be your whole self. I provide an environment of cultural humility with culturally, spiritually, and trauma responsive therapy. I meet you where you are and work with you to understand where you want to go, who you are now and who you want to be, how you feel now and how you want to feel. I am direct but compassionate and encouraging. If you are ready to take a step towards healing, personal growth, making a change, or just need a safe place to process daily life, my door is open. You don’t have to have it all together, or be walking the straight and narrow. You are welcome, just as you are. We will navigate whatever path or road you seek together.
