Suzie is passionate about helping children and adults through physical, emotional or sexual abuse. After completing her Masters Degree at Liberty University, she held an internship position at Transitional Counseling Center working with the sex offender population while earning her Provisional Sex Offender Treatment Provider (PSOTP) certification. At the same time Suzie worked at Riverside Hospital conducting groups with schizophrenia clients in a day program unit. She later worked in a private practice setting working with a sex therapist with a focus on the LGBT, transgender and sex addiction population. She has also completed her training as an Approved Clinical Supervisor. Suzie has also completed her training in EMDR, a trauma focused psychotherapy, one of the most studied treatment for PTSD and found this very effective with the VA clients she is currently serving. Suzie has also worked in various roles associated with crisis intervention and volunteered at a domestic violence shelter for women and children. Suzie believes that each individual is unique. Her treatment approach is customized to bring greater self-awareness, psychological healing, and inner satisfaction. Suzie has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in treating psychosis, anxiety disorders, depression, self-esteem issues, mood disorders, and other issues faced in the journey of life. In addition to providing wellness counseling, she works with multiple issues requiring mild to more intensive therapy skills and complicated grief, caregiver, and mood management issues. Therefore, Suzie believes it is important to incorporate a knowledge of one’s thinking process to overcome a negative feeling.

Counseling Background: Counseling is a collective effort between the individual and the counselor to help the individual draw from their natural strength and resources to accomplish a personal desire or goal. I believe that individuals come to Counseling because they are seeking something to be different in their lives. They may want to change their personal or family situation, solve a problem, or bring about a healthier balance in their lives. It is in the counseling process that individuals, families, and couples have a safe and nurturing environment to self-examine very challenging and sometimes painful issues to bring about change. In the event, the client is a minor, parents or legal guardians may be included in the counseling process as appropriate. Still, measures will be taken to safeguard confidentiality, always acting in the best interest of the client.

Hello, and welcome. My name is Kathleen McGah and I offer a comfortable, confidential space for teens, college-age students and young adults to talk about whatever is on their mind, at one's own pace, and without judgment. When people have a safe place to practice putting thoughts and feelings into words, they find they grow psychologically stronger over time - and more satisfied with various aspects of life. I have worked with many students who, initially, have been hesitant to talk with a professional. (Even if one has had a counseling experience in the past, it can still be difficult to start with a new therapist.) It makes sense if you have some hesitation about taking this step. Only you will know if you are ready. If you have been struggling and think it would be good to meet with a therapist, though, please reach out.

Life in your teen and early adult years is overwhelming. Figuring out who you are, fielding all the expectations, managing unknowns about the future, and putting yourself out there socially are all demanding your time and energy. It's a lot. Maybe you’re about to give up, feeling ready to stop being disappointed in yourself, or feeling that this is just how life is, and you need to cope however you can. You've done all the things you thought you were supposed to, and it doesn’t seem like it’s enough. You don’t have to keep pushing through. A meaningful, joyful life is possible for you, too. I work with teens, young adults, and their families to address the “never enough,” “what’s wrong with me,” or “why did this happen to me?” In our work, we will slow down and process the beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you while learning behaviors that support the person you are becoming. My approach is warm and compassionate, yet direct. Teen years and young adulthood are hard enough; you don't have to figure it out on your own. Together, we will work through the self-doubt, feelings of hopelessness, and the sense of isolation so that you can be your unique self—truly seen and valued. Strong and confident.

Tiffany is a native of Mississippi graduating from the prestigious Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. She spent her summers in the mountains of North Carolina during undergraduate and graduate schools and eventually found her way back to North Carolina full time. Tiffany graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master's Degree in Community Counseling from Regent University. Tiffany has been providing counseling services since 2012 and Neurofeedback services since 2014. She is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina. Tiffany is one of only three clinicians in North Carolina's Piedmont Triad Region who is Board Certified in Neurofeedback from The Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) and a certified mentor for the BCIA board certification process helping train other practitioners to become board certified in neurofeedback. Tiffany is a the only clinician in the region who has the Quantitative EEG-Diplomate Licensed (QEEG-DL) certification from the QEEG Certification Board. She is certified in HeartMath and serves as adjunct faculty at Wake Forest University in the graduate counseling program. Tiffany has received didactic training to read QEEG brain maps and administer scientifically based neurofeedback training from her mentor, Robert E. Longo, MRC, LCMHC, BCN; Richard Soutar, PhD, BCN (Alpha Theta Training); Tiff Thompson, PhD, MFT, BCN, QEEGDL, REEGT (QEEG Training), and Sebern Fisher (Neurofeedback and Developmental Trauma). Click here to listen to Tiffany’s talk on Developmental Trauma. When Tiffany began her career, she used more well-known techniques, like cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy, but it wasn’t long before she became increasingly aware that the mental health field needed alternatives. Neurofeedback takes advantage of the brain's ability to change itself allowing a person of any age to make changes in behavior and thinking patterns more easily. Using a combination of counseling and Neurofeedback, Tiffany began to see more substantial changes in her client's lives. Currently, Tiffany utilizes Neurofeedback and Heart Rate Variability in combination with traditional counseling. Click here to read Tiffany’s article on the popular Blog—Triad Mom’s on Main. Tiffany works with a variety of clientele utilizing a person-centered approach, which means sessions will start with you and your needs. Together, we will explore the issues that you bring to counseling in a holistic way with emphasis on emotional and personal history perspectives. Tiffany‘s experience has allowed her to work closely with many children, teenagers, and adults of different needs and backgrounds where she brings enthusiasm, compassion and cross-cultural understanding to her work towards healing and wholeness.
