Yihhsing Liu (中文: 劉懿馨; Pronouns: she/her/hers), Ph.D., LPC., NCC My clinical practice is informed by principles of humanistic psychology with the following focuses: psychodynamics, cultural relational theory, and trauma-focused framework. I believe in the power of therapeutic discourses that facilitate clients to discover unspoken thoughts and emotions related to their issues. I help clients to make meaningful connections and integrate thoughts, feelings, and actions given a situated culture and context. Additionally, I help clients explore meanings and patterns from a variety of roles they may identify with while developing creative mechanisms to respond to contextual and systematic stressors. I have practiced psychotherapy and clinical mental health counseling in various types of treatment facilities in the United States since 2010. I offered individual as well as group counseling in the areas of mood disturbances, maladaptive behaviors, crisis & trauma, relationship issues, identity issues, and substance abuse. I practiced psychiatric nursing as a Registered Nurse (RN) and a Registered Professional Nurse (RPN) in both child & adolescent and adult in-patient units at the designated psychiatric treatment center in the city of Taipei, aka Taipei City Hospital, Department of Psychiatry, Taiwan from 1999 to 2004. Additionally, I served as a clinical faculty in the program of Counselor Education at Duquesne University (2015-2024). I provided teaching, training, and clinical supervision for counselors-in-training and supervisors-in-training on a regular basis throughout my academic appointments. I offer services for a variety of mental health issues from short term, brief interventions to long term psychotherapy. I am a native speaker of Mandarin and offer bilingual mental health counseling.
How are you doing with the dystopia? I'm Cori, and with me, therapy starts by acknowledging that we are living in the dark ages. But my clients are heroic. They're intrepid. They're wise. They are struggling to make meaning and survive in a harsh and terrifying era. Most of us feel pretty powerless. I try to offer a brand of queer Buddhist wizardry that helps people break generational curses, find the power they DO have, and create community that sustains them. I offer many evidence based approaches to therapy, especially those that help us change our relationship with ourselves, and changing our relationship with life and reality. Existential therapy, acceptance & commitment therapy, and narrative approaches are my bread-and-butter. I also work from a great deal of other experiences; as an activist, queer organizer, drag artist, social work professor, and a student of many wisdom traditions. I lived abroad in both Europe and Asia and know how alienating, frightening, and difficult it can be to adjust to a radically different culture. I studied tàijíquán and Daoist thought on Wǔdāng mountain in central China from 2010 to 2011, and have studied and practiced Buddhism since 2011 with various Tibetan, Bhutanese, and western Lamas.

My job as your therapist is to meet you where you are and to understand your experience, your pain, and to help you move forward. Hi! I’m Annie, and I’m a licensed social worker. I often work with individuals who have experienced trauma. After studying neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania, I attended medical school. Here, I fell in love with psychiatry because I was fascinated with patients' stories and their unique ways of enduring them. I sought my graduate medical education at the Western Psychiatric Hospital of UPMC, one of the nation's largest and most renowned university-affiliated psychiatric hospitals. I specialize in integrating evidence-based (e.g., medication) and patient-centered (e.g., hypnosis) therapies. My prescribing is evidence-based and enhanced by patient-centered problem-solving that utilizes your existing attributes while evoking natural learning and adaptation processes.
