I received my M.S. In Counseling from Villanova University and pursued doctoral studies at Immaculata University. In 1994 I became a licensed psychologist and opened my own private practice in Wayne, PA. I have been an adjunct professor at Chestnut Hill College in their graduate psychology department. I completed advanced studies in Jungian psychology at the C. G. Jung Institute in Philadelphia. In 1997 I became a certified Imago Relationship therapist where my goal was to assist couples in having more conscious, loving and intimate relationships. Central to my work is a powerful self-discovery tool … the Enneagram in which I received training in 2001. I use it extensively with clients as well as outside groups where I give presentations and teach classes on the Enneagram including volunteer teaching of the Enneagram at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. In 2014 I received my certification in coaching through the Coaches Training Institute. I since have developed a coaching practice to complement the work I do in the therapeutic and counseling areas. In addition, I also give presentations and talks for married couples, parent associations, support groups, and health and wellness audiences.
Therapy is more about building new associations, making new, healthier default pathways. It is almost as if therapy is taking your two-lane dirt road and building a four-lane freeway alongside it. The old road stays, but you don’t use it much anymore. Therapy is building a better alternative, a new default. And that takes repetition, and time, honestly, it works best if someone understands how the brain changes. This is why understanding how trauma impacts our health is essential for everyone.” ~ Dr. Bruce Perry I am a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of experience in various mental health settings such as Outpatient facilities, Inpatient hospitals, Crisis Center, but mainly in public and private alternative school settings. I have served children, adolescents/teens as well as adults. My expertise is in treating clients with ADHD, ODD, depression, mood disorders, stress and anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, coping with grief and loss, loss of motivation, self-esteem and confidence. I attended Cairn University, where I received my Master of Science in Christian Counseling and Bachelor of Science in Bible with a concentration in Social Work at Lancaster Bible College. I also hold a Trauma-Informed certification as well as NMT (Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics) certification where I specialize in helping clients utilize various tools to regulate certain regions of the brain. I utilize various therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Support Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Reality Therapy, Person Centered Therapy and Social Skills Training. I believe in incorporating different therapies according to client’s treatment plan and goals. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. College can be a time of both high demand and high reward. It's a time where we find independence, our passions, new friendships, and more... all while being challenged in a way we haven't been before. This is a transition that warrants a support system to help us through. Whether it be daily life stress, deeper traumas you have endured, or anything in between, my role in this support system is to be here as a resource for you in your therapeutic journey. I look forward to working together to shed light on your strengths, increase self-understanding, and empower you through any hardships. Let's connect!

Do you feel held back by fear and anxiety? Do the "what ifs" or the memories of how things went wrong haunt you to the point of inaction? If so, I can help; I work with young adults to help them overcome their anxiety and past trauma to get unstuck and live their lives to the fullest. I try to balance meeting you where you are, and teaching you skills that will change behavior patterns that are no longer working for you. Therapy should be more than just "venting;" I believe it should be an active process of learning and change. If you want a therapy experience that is structured and goal-oriented, we may be a good fit. I enjoy and welcome working with students of all backgrounds, including the LGTBQIAA community. I would be happy to speak with you to see if we can become partners in your recovery journey!
Welcome to Empirical Embrace Counseling! I became a therapist because I understand what it feels like to be in the throes of mental illness while also navigating the ups and downs of life - and how isolating that can be. I want all of my clients to feel safe when they are in the therapy room with me. I want them to know that they have me in their corner to support, guide, and advocate for them. My clients inspire me every. single. day. and I am truly passionate about my work. I am extensively trained in a variety of evidence-based treatments for OCD, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and trauma. Some of these treatment modalities include Exposure/Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - Enhanced for ED's, Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, and general Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for anxiety and depression. The most important thing to me in the therapy room is my relationship with my client. I approach this with compassion and empathy and most importantly, meeting my clients where they are. Holding the space for my clients to experience life's ups and downs is one of my greatest strengths.

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who likes to provide a positive and non-judgmental space for clients to express themselves and recognize their own power for change. Through my time in the mental health field, I have learned the importance of meeting a client where they’re at in their treatment process and supporting them in their personal goals. I like providing a relaxed therapeutic environment through therapeutic activities and sometimes even light humor. I typically use a combination of family systems theories and motivational interviewing. Through the use of a systemic approach, it allows me to connect with my clients and understand their family system and communication patterns. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) to support clients in addressing trauma. Outside my role as a therapist I enjoy spending time with my husband, new daughter and rescue dog, especially taking walks and exploring new places. I also love traveling, challenging myself with Peloton classes and playing volleyball. When it is time to relax, I like watching Netflix, Disney+ and reality shows.

I believe that everyone deserves the chance to flourish in life. Life throws us curveballs, often causing us to lose sight of who we are and what we need to feel worthy and successful. My main priority with clients is to create a safe space, free from judgment and criticism. I utilize a multitude of counseling theories in my work, but always practice from a client-centered foundation, in which I work to empower my clients to take an active role in their treatment. I believe there is value in collaboration, and I want to work together to navigate through the challenges that come up. Growing up as a competitive athlete, I experienced firsthand the impact that academic and athletic pressures can have on the body and mind. I played Division I soccer at the collegiate level, and therefore, have a speciality of working with athletes. I use my personal experiences with mental health to connect authentically with clients.

I specialize in the assessment of neurological, developmental and learning challenges. As a neuropsychologist and certified school psychologist, most of my time is spent on neuropsychological evaluations for educational purposes, helping students with developmental delays, learning disabilities, ADHD and brain injuries, including concussions. Over the years, my services have grown with my patients to include services for adults with these same challenges as well. I am on staff at Doylestown Hospital and, as a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS), I serve as the neuropsychological consultant to the Bucks County IU’s BrainSTEPS Program, where we work to help students with concussions and severe brain injuries re-enter school successfully.
