Therapists for college students near University of Texas at Austin
Everyone struggles with relationship issues, anxiety/worry, work stress, substance use, or uncomfortable feelings. It can also be extremely difficult to find balance and perspective sometimes. My goal is to provide a safe and organized framework for identifying these problems and developing new skills or ways of thinking about them. Ultimately, I help my clients develop the tools needed to manage independently and live a life they're excited about. Due to the current state of the world, I'm also working with a lot of individuals who are feeling isolated and cut off from their "normal" support systems to help them manage life's issues. I grew up in the Dallas area, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in psychology. I then attended graduate school at Assumption University because of its affiliation with the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. My clinical training was thus focused on a cognitive behavioral approach to treating mental health disorders like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder as well as substance abuse issues. I was also intensively trained during my internship in Dialectical-Behavior Therapy and I utilize this skills-based approach to help adolescents and adults struggling to build and maintain relationships, manage their emotions or crises effectively. My approach to therapy is problem-focused and very much operates in the present. I collaborate with clients to identify goals, develop skills, and implement them in a structured way. The area of focus in therapy tends to be on reframing thoughts or changing behaviors with the end goal of improving mood or circumstance.
My passion is helping youth and adults find a way to live their best life! Sometimes that looks like coaching for success and other times it involves addressing concerns that interfere with living well such as anxiety, autism, neurodiversity, social interactions, stress, and sports performance anxiety. I am paneled with many insurances other than those listed below. I am licensed in North Carolina, Texas, Virginia, South Carolina, and Nebraska. I am a trained provider of cognitive rehabilitation for (TBI) brain injury. Check on my website link to see if I have your insurance paneled with me. I look forward to meeting you!
Welcome! My name is "Dr. Ed." I'm a Ph.D.-Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston and Governors State. In our multicultural world, therapy is a safe place to respect your values and honor your strengths! √ I'm 4.6 rated with 60+ reviews on HealthGrades, United Health, Aetna and Cigna. My treatment philosophy is built on respect and appreciation of the dignity for each person I work with. Let me emphasize this one more time, YOU don't have to settle for a poor self-image from negative experiences nor settle with poor relationships with your family, spouse, kids and yourself. Let's figure it out..together.. My therapy specialty is working with adults, couples, families, and pre-teens who are dealing with feelings of rejection, grief, and situation anxiousness-including balancing family and work-life stressors. I greatly appreciate listening to the adult male voice in relationships and families. Learning ways to bridge the gap in communication styles between men and women, parents and children, is important work! Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a core faculty member for nine years at Capella University-graduate and doctoral programs in Social Work and Public Service Leadership. Outside of work, Dr. Ed enjoys traveling to Barbados, Cancun, Houston Rodeo, is active in the KAY fraternity, and is an Astros and Cubs fan. Hi, I'm Ayesha! We all face mental health challenges at different points in life, and seeking clarity is often the first step toward healing. You may be experiencing low moods, intrusive thoughts, or body image distress—all of which can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, stress, and fatigue. Sadly, many people suffer in silence, avoiding the deeper work needed to shift unhelpful thinking patterns. This can create a cycle of guilt, shame, and unworthiness that reinforces emotional and behavioral struggles. I’m here to help you break that cycle. Through evidence-based therapeutic interventions, I support clients in identifying and disrupting negative thought patterns, gaining new perspectives on themselves and their life experiences. Together, we’ll work to unlearn unhealthy beliefs, better understand your emotions, and develop healthy coping strategies to manage life's challenges more effectively. As a clinician, I offer a safe and non-judgmental space where you can grow, heal, and explore your emotional experiences. I lead with empathy, compassion, and validation, while also maintaining a goal-oriented approach to help you make lasting changes. My passion lies in helping individuals navigate mood disorders, stress-related issues, and eating disorders. If you're ready to take that first brave step, I’m here to walk alongside you. Reach out today, and let’s begin your journey to healing.
