Therapists for college students near 30332
Love and respect are what we offer to all students from every walk of life and belief. We provide counseling at an affordable price for college students. Bethel Haven is a Christian Non-profit organization dedicated to serving our community. We offer affordable and quality professional therapeutic services led from a biblical approach when desired by the client. We strive to address the needs of the whole person, recognizing the biological, social, psychological, and spiritual components that make up an individual. We believe therapy should entail a collaborative relationship between a therapist and client based on mutual respect and agreed-upon treatment goals.
College can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. Many of the students I work with are trying to figure out their career path while also managing stress, anxiety, or feeling down. You might be questioning your major, worrying about the future, struggling with social anxiety, or feeling pressure to keep everything together while balancing school and life. I work best with college students who want a supportive place to talk through what they’re experiencing and learn practical ways to cope with stress, anxiety, and uncertainty about their next steps. Together, we focus on helping you feel more confident in your choices, manage difficult emotions, and build skills that make college—and life beyond it—feel more manageable.

Do you feel misunderstood and stuck in your head? Do you feel a desire for change but are lacking direction? Maybe you feel stuck in a relationship, a job, or a state of mind that has left you feeling unsatisfied, anxious, or depressed. As a clinician, I believe that my role is to create a completely non-judgmental space for you to process and grow. The more we can be vulnerable in expressing our true (and sometimes messy) selves, the closer we get to living fully, authentically, and with a sense of ease. I approach every session with an open mind, and a deep sense of compassion for your unique story. I am transparent, collaborative, and am a valuable resource for you on your path towards meaningful change, peace of mind, and personal empowerment. I'm passionate about working with college students and recent grads. It's common to experience anxiety and depression in the form of worrying about everything under the sun or feeling down more often than usual to simply feeling overwhelmed 24/7. I'm here to walk with you through those feelings, give you skills to cope with them, and process them along the way.

“I have learned now that while those who speak about one’s miseries usually hurt, those who keep silence hurt more.” - Clive Staples Lewis Beginning the process of therapy can be intimidating, overwhelming, and scary. I completely understand and have been where you are. Sitting in silence only prolongs the inevitable. Trying to resolve the problem with the help of a friend or loved one eases the burden temporarily but you may not get to the core. Working with a trusted therapist, you begin to understand your deeper thought processes, the ineffective loops you’re likely stuck in, and the fear-based thoughts holding you back. I help people struggling with stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, and relational conflicts. I begin where you stand now. I move slowly, gently, and respectfully towards the goals we create together. My therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma, and Systemic Family Therapy. Some of my past experiences include working with individuals and couples in several private practice locations over the years, an inpatient drug/alcohol addiction treatment center, and at a U.S. Air Force base helping military members and their families. I also worked as a mental health counselor in a close-security prison for 3 ½ years helping male inmates struggling with mental health issues. A few fun facts about me: I spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and have lived in multiple countries and states. I've been married to my beautiful bride for over 20 years and we are empty nesters (if you don't count our 4 pets)!

I strongly believe that a safe, empathetic, non-judgmental environment is a place that fosters acceptance and growth. I have experience working with a variety of clients with varying mental health needs such as eating disorders, body image concerns, depression, anxiety, adjustment to life changes, grief/loss, substance use/abuse, and trauma. I graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College with BS in Clinical Psychology in 2017 and from Mercer University with an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2020. I also completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training at Ebb and Flow Yoga, Spa, & Float in 2017. I have experience working with adolescent, young adult, and adult women in the field of eating disorders, mood disorders, depression, and anxiety. I also like to incorporate my yoga teachings into my counseling where appropriate. I am a mother, spouse, avid reader, counselor, yogi, and friend. But most importantly I am human and I understand how difficult being human can be sometimes. Therefore, I will seek to hear and understand your world and struggles you face in that world. I believe I can help by offering a compassionate ear, coping skills, and a safe place to process emotions.
