Therapists for college students near University of Minnesota
Hello neurodivergent folks! If you've been diagnosed or curious about ADHD, Autism, OCD, or identify as a sensitive person, welcome! My clinical background is in disordered eating and body acceptance from a body liberation lense. I am passionate about radical self acceptance, self compassion, and human rights. I am the ideal therapist for you if you: can meet during the day, swear, want consistency, and if you want to strengthen your instincts. Feeling our feelings is sometimes uncomfortable, so I believe in collaborating with you to help you remember your wise, resilient self is safe. My special interests include ADHD, AUDHD, anxiety, Intuitive Eating, life transitions, fat liberation, and somatic work. I practice therapy from a decolonized lens. Prioritizing your needs and creating a safe space for you is always my first goal. If you are interested in working together, or have questions about working together, please email me to set up your first appointment kahle@embodiedcounselingmn.com

Micah Duke is dual board-certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and board-certified as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. He has nearly two decades of experience helping adults and children in crisis and emergency situations. Micah self-identifies as a "professional student" and understands the many stresses associated with leaving home and attending college. He believes in a holistic, person-centered approach to mental health that focuses on both the physical and mental stresses of life. He also believes that everybody needs someone to talk to sometime so nobody should ever feel stigmatized for seeking mental health help.
For the past 8 years I have served Veterans and Service Members working for the VA and the Army. I would love to help you figure out what you are ready to change and guide you in your journey.
Starting therapy can feel uncomfortable, especially if you're used to handling things on your own. I want to set a tone that feels genuine, relaxed, and goal oriented where we develop real solutions to your real problems. I have experience working with adolescents and adults facing stress, relationship problems, anger, and major life changes. I work especially well with someone who may feel stuck, isolated, overwhelmed, or perhaps even unsure where to begin? Therapy with me is focused on helping you move forward.
As a queer therapist, I believe there is no one “right way” to live our lives. This is the same for therapy, there is no “right way.” I believe we all have the power to harness our strengths and find the path that gives us the most meaning and purpose. Clients are the experts in their own lives – each person has the tools and skills to solve their problems, though sometimes may need some outside help to find those tools and learn those skills. Together we can create a therapeutic alliance that is conducive towards self-discovery, growth, and fulfilling your potential while honoring your history, resiliency, values, and beliefs. I completed my Masters in Social Work at Loyola University Chicago. I am working towards being a Certified Sex Therapist (CST) through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). I specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community, gender diverse, the consensual non-monogamy (CNM) community, and I am kink/BDSM-affirming.

I provide individual therapy to adolescents and young adults. My approach centers building connections, offering compassion and staying curious about who you are in the past, present and future; helping you become the author to your own story. I want you to feel seen and heard throughout our time working together. Although I welcome working with a range of client concerns, my areas of special focus include navigating disordered eating, eating disorders, body image, shame and perfectionism, identity exploration and anxiety management. I practice from an intersectional feminist, holistic style approach. Many of my clients are in the early stages of exploring their relationship with identity, food and their bodies. Like all of us, I am a work-in-progress but I constantly strive to be culturally and gender affirming and responsive in my daily practice. Prior to becoming a licensed therapist, I worked in community based non-profits throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. I remain passionate about advocating and supporting youth and families during their healing and growth journeys, as well as promoting access to care. With over 20 years of experience, Stacy seamlessly blends the rich traditions of therapy with innovative techniques. As a Clinical Social Worker, her advanced credentials in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Mental Emotional Release® (MER), and Hypnosis mark her as a leading Change Navigator™, especially for college students navigating significant life transitions. Stacy holds a powerful belief: each individual, especially during their transformative college years, has the capability to 'reprogram' their mind, much like software updates. This conviction, shaped by countless student interactions, showcases the adaptability and resilience inherent in young adults. Stacy delves deep, identifying old mindsets and behaviors, which often take root during early years, and can impact academic performance and emotional wellbeing. Her approach is a harmonious fusion of science and empathy. By combining the communication skills of NLP, the emotional release of MER, and the transformative states of Hypnosis, Stacy offers students a holistic therapeutic journey. While she employs time-tested methods, she also ensures her strategies remain current and relatable. Many of the students Stacy connects with share common experiences: they are navigating the challenges of young adulthood, adjusting to college life, and aiming to define their future paths. She sees therapy, coaching, and consulting as interlinked, allowing her to tailor her interventions to each student's unique story. Stacy believes in collaboration; students set their course, and she serves as their trusted guide. Together, they work to ensure that every student embarks on a journey of discovery, resilience, and positive transformation.
With over ten years of clinical experience, I recognize how academic stress can affect young adults. These challenges often impact individuals uniquely, depending on their backgrounds and identities. In therapy, I customize my approach to equip you with the tools and support necessary to reclaim balance and focus on your academic and social pursuits. Together, we will create a space to address these challenges.
I bring over 20 years of experience working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families, supporting clients ages 5 and up across a range of settings including outpatient care, adolescent dual-diagnosis day treatment, and adult residential treatment. I work with individuals and families navigating anxiety, depression, anger management, parenting challenges, ADHD, relationship concerns, and substance use. I also hold a substance use specialty attached to my license, which allows me to support clients with co-occurring mental health and substance-related concerns in a grounded, practical way. My goal is to meet you where you are and help you move forward with clarity, support, and realistic tools for change.

College and young adult years can be both exciting and overwhelming. Many students and young adults find themselves managing anxiety, depression, or grief while also trying to keep up with academic demands, relationships, work, and expectations from family or themselves. Feeling stressed, burned out, unmotivated, or emotionally drained does not mean you are failing — it means you are human and navigating a lot at once. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling. I work with college students, young adults, and adolescents using a client-centered, goal-oriented approach. Therapy is a collaborative process where we focus on what feels most pressing for you and develop practical strategies to help you cope more effectively with stress, emotions, and life transitions. I support individuals experiencing: * Anxiety and depression related to academic pressure, performance stress, and major life changes * Grief and loss, including losses that occur during college or early adulthood * Emotional overwhelm, burnout, difficulty with focus, and feeling “stuck” or disconnected * Relationship and family stress, especially as roles, independence, and boundaries shift * Autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and behavioral concerns in adolescents and young adults I use evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and stress-reduction techniques to help clients build coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and gain clarity during challenging seasons. Therapy should feel supportive, nonjudgmental, and empowering. Whether this is your first time seeking counseling or you are returning to therapy, my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported as you work toward balance, confidence, and improved well-being.
