Do you struggle with daily negative thoughts and low mood? School or work stress? Feeling hopeless about the future and wondering if you will ever feel better? If so, I think we could be a good fit together in therapy. In sessions, I utilize a mix of actively listening and offering concrete tools to help you feel better and reach your goals. These tools are from research-backed treatments called cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). I also enjoy incorporating my sense of humor and positive demeanor to help you feel understood and motivated during our treatment together. I am licensed in New York and Massachusetts. My practice is currently virtual. In addition to my private practice, I am a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, where I teach psychology and psychiatry graduate students. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions! I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to answer your questions and see whether I would be a good fit for your therapy goals.

Many college students feel stressed, anxious, or unsure how to handle everything on their own. Between classes, friendships, family expectations, and figuring out what comes next, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or stuck. Therapy gives you a space to process what you’re experiencing, understand yourself more clearly, and build coping skills that actually work in your day-to-day life. I offer virtual sessions, which makes it easier to fit therapy into your schedule wherever you are. My style is warm, supportive, and practical, and we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

The students I work best with are often thoughtful, driven, and hard on themselves. On the outside, you may be doing well academically or professionally, while internally you feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in your own thoughts. You might overthink decisions, repeatedly question whether you did something wrong, struggle with perfectionism, or put a lot of pressure on yourself to meet others’ expectations. I also work well with students navigating relationship difficulties, major life transitions, cultural or family expectations, and the challenges of living or studying away from home. Many of my clients are international students or Asian/Asian American students balancing different cultures and expectations. You don’t need to know exactly what is “wrong” or what kind of therapy you need before reaching out. We can start with what has been bothering you and work together to understand what is keeping you stuck and what would help you move forward.

My approach focuses on creating a welcoming, compassionate space where we can explore your experiences together at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Whether you’re navigating relationship challenges, identity exploration, or significant life transitions, I’m here to support you every step of the way. As a mental health counselor, I work with adolescents and young adults as they move through life's transitions, helping them manage anxiety and depression triggers, process the changes they’re experiencing, and find healthier ways to understand and manage their emotions. I’m passionate about helping patients build confidence and self-esteem along the way. Reliability, respect, and trust guide how I show up as a supportive and trustworthy clinician. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals and learn how to manage the challenges you may face along the way. I specialize in using CBT, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, to build coping skills and strategies for managing the stressors that come with different stages of life, along with Motivational Interviewing, or MI, to help you find what motivates you and use that motivation to make changes in your life. This approach is collaborative, empathetic, and pragmatic, and tailored to your unique story. Creating a strong therapeutic alliance is also central to how I work, because I believe it can be key to successfully attaining goals in therapy. It matters to me that patients feel safe and free of judgment, and that is what I hope to provide as your clinician. Together, we can build a calm and supportive environment where you feel comfortable working toward your goals. My path to becoming a therapist began with my own journey through therapy, experiencing its effects and the support that therapy can provide to those who are engaged in it. I wanted to offer that same support and comfort to others, creating a safe and empathetic environment where patients could work toward their goals. This experience deepened my commitment to providing consistent, supportive, warm, and welcoming care. Carrying that experience forward, I bring the idea that each person and each session hold its own story. In our sessions, I hope to learn your story and support you in reviewing your previous chapters while creating a plan to help you write the next one. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, whether we're headed to the beach, a concert, or a new restaurant — I'm always up for a new adventure. Sporting events are another favorite, especially cheering on women's sports and the PWHL. On calmer days, you'll find me watching movies of all kinds, reading books, or spending time with my dog.

We may click in this therapeutic relationship if you feel like your self awareness is a double edged sword, where you can see what's going on but can't seem to change or manuever life as it goes.

I work especially well with ambitious women and students who are used to being the “high-functioning” one: the person others rely on, who keeps achieving even when they feel overwhelmed inside. I’m particularly passionate about supporting women in STEM, medicine, law, and other male-dominated fields, where the pressure to prove yourself can make it hard to slow down or ask for support. Over the past decade, I’ve helped clients navigate anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, and the feeling that they always need to do more. You might be dealing with overthinking, people-pleasing, self-criticism, or the sense that you’re falling behind despite everything you’ve accomplished. Students also come to me with relationship stress, family expectations, identity questions, and uncertainty about what comes next. I bring a feminist lens to therapy, which means we can look at both your personal patterns and the expectations placed on you. My style is warm, grounded, and collaborative, with enough challenge to help you make meaningful changes. Together, we’ll make space to understand what you need and build a life that supports your well-being alongside your ambition.

I believe we have a natural tendency toward growth, striving to feel more fully ourselves. Sometimes that vitality gets disrupted, leaving you feeling depressed (as though nothing will change) or anxious (afraid things will only get worse). You may sense life could be different, but feel stuck without a clear path to follow. Psychotherapy can help you understand how and why these struggles developed and discover a new path toward feeling better. With over 25 years experience and advanced training, I provide a warm and confidential space where you can explore challenges, gain new perspectives, and take steps toward deeper satisfaction and emotional security.

Philosophy The guiding philosophy of my practice is to help people understand themselves in the service of personal development within the context of a safe and reliable relationship with another person. I believe that deep and rich self-examination requires rigorous and systematic pursuit on the part of both therapist and patient as they work together. I place a high value on curiosity, creativity, purposeful aims, tolerance of discomfort, and the strength for meaningful work and satisfying relationships. These cannot be attained in a vacuum, but rather are experienced or learned through the medium of the psychotherapeutic relationship. The internal world of imagination and the life of the mind are brought into balance with social relatedness and external realities. Therapist and patient endeavor to find verbal language to express the patient’s inner experience, feelings, thoughts, and that for which no words have yet been found. The human mind, brain, body and experience are neither separable nor unconnected, but instead form a comprehensive, whole system. Although it is tempting to think of stressors, struggles, problems, issues, events, transitions, and diseases as discrete and unique, I understand symptoms, perceptions, traumas and diagnoses not as circumscribed and distinct entities, but as signposts of underlying, complex unconscious expressions. By recruiting present and/or past events, the unconscious mind disguises itself defensively, in order to remain hidden and unchanged. Together, therapist and patient seek to discover the origins and symbolic meanings of symptoms, their purposes and functions, while accumulating new experiences formed by the proceedings of the psychotherapy process itself. In this way, patients find or re-discover authentic aspects of themselves, integrate or re-integrate shards of themselves that have been unconsciously split off or disconnected, and learn or re-learn how to interact with themselves, others and their environments. The result is the freeing of energy that has been bound up unproductively in the form of painful, unsatisfying, automatic and inhibiting symptoms, so that the energy may be re-directed toward consciously and voluntarily chosen, fulfilling, productive pursuits. If, among the pioneers of modern science, we count Einstein, who forever changed our view of the universe, and Darwin, who forever changed our view of humanity’s place in nature, we must count Freud, who forever changed our view of the human mind, probably the most complex structure in the universe, as the third, and arguably the greatest, of these intellectual heroes. His discovery of psychological defenses against self-knowledge, and his methods of detecting and resolving those defenses, stand among the highest achievements of humankind.

It’s easy to feel stuck or broken when we’ve never had the space to allow all of our emotions, the support to feel them safely, and the perspective to view ourselves with compassion. But when we finally get those things, we get to evolve, grow and change in ways that can be truly profound. My job isn’t to force you to do anything, but to help you learn and build what you’ve needed, so that you can evolve in the ways you want to. If I can count on you to teach me about yourself, about what you feel, and what you're hoping for, you can count on me to listen, and to offer options for how we can pursue your goals. I offer an open approach that includes you in deciding what we do and why, so we can be sure we're working in ways that are both understandable and meaningful to you. So far, this approach has led to clear results for people experiencing PTSD, anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and recent traumas. As we collaborate, I can provide additional support via methods like EMDR, IFS, EAET, mindfulness, exposure, and body-based therapies. Call or email any time.

I'm a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in the State of New York, and have over 20 years of experience in successfully helping college students who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, grief & loss, and poor self-esteem. I enjoy working with people from a variety of different backgrounds, identities, and life circumstances. I take the privilege of working with patients very seriously and am committed to providing a consistent, supportive, and productive therapy experience to each of them, in every session. I have specific training in several treatment approaches (Interpersonal therapy, CBT, & contemporary psychodynamic therapy among them), and tailor the work to the particular needs of each patient. Regardless of the approach, however, my goal is always to work together to find practical strategies and solutions we can use to create real, meaningful change. While my experience and training are certainly important to how I approach this work, I believe my genuine personal warmth and natural sense of humor are also central to creating therapy relationships that feel safe and transformative.
