Therapists for college students near New York, NY
I am Katy, a Psychotherapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 15 years of experience in mental health and social services on both coasts. I believe all human beings deserve to live a life that is rich and full and free of suffering, and that this requires lots of work, and lots of help. While you may be experiencing anxiety, depression, or the effects of traumas that leave you struggling to cope, you also carry with you inner wisdom and strengths and skills waiting to be developed. I believe that every person has a lifelong capacity for change, and that you deserve healing. I am passionate about helping adolescents and young adults find their footing in the world, supporting women who are navigating the effects of trauma and systemic violence, and empowering LGBTQIA+ individuals to find freedom and safety. I utilize tools from CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, and also challenge you to try out new perspectives and skills, develop new insights, and explore new boundaries. The first step is reaching out. Hi, I’m a Columbia University–trained clinician with 20 years of experience working with college learners in a range of roles—including psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and professor. I specialize in supporting young adults navigating anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, identity development, and even high-performance areas like academics and sports. I bring both clinical depth and real-world understanding to the therapy room—and what makes me a little different is that I genuinely get the college experience. I’ve spent my career in it, and I know how to blend evidence-based strategies with humor, warmth, and a nonjudgmental presence that helps clients feel both seen and empowered.

Let’s face it, taking the steps towards bettering your life can be hard. But let’s also recognize that you just accomplished a hard thing by finding me here in the first place! As your therapist, I am committed to helping you navigate all of those challenges life throws your way by using an approach that is centered around your needs, in a place that makes you feel safe and heard. My work is done through a strength based, person focused lens as this journey in therapy is about YOU. I have experience supporting adolescents and adults struggling to work through an array of challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, adjustment and life transitions, and LGBTQ+ issues. I want to be someone who not only listens to you and your needs, but also works with you to create the tools and skills that help you get through those “life is really hard” days.
Working with me is a collaborative experience. I like to think of it as a road trip. You’re in the driver’s seat. I’m in the passenger seat, helping navigate. You tell me what you’re seeing. What feels confusing. What feels overwhelming. What feels stuck. And together, we figure out where you actually want to go. Sometimes we’ll take a left into childhood, family dynamics, and old stories that shaped you. Sometimes we’ll take a right into present-day tools, boundaries, communication skills, and routines. You’re the expert in your life, what has worked, what hasn’t and what is important to you now. I bring my psych knowledge, tools, and experience with clients. When we combine these. We can get you where you want to go. People say education is power and I agree, but information alone is useless. When I use my education, it’s not to lecture, instead it’s to empower you to challenge you to integrate it. Once you understand what’s happening in your mind and body, you’re not just reacting anymore. You’re choosing. Sometimes I’ll challenge you. Sometimes you’ll challenge me. That’s part of real collaboration. When I work with someone, I’m committed to this process with you. I’ll show up fully, adapt to who you are, and push you compassionately toward growth. You don’t have to do this alone. Let’s take this road trip together.
Through our work together, we will create a space that is uniquely yours. Your life experience, thoughts, and emotions will be witnessed and safely held within the relationship we cultivate. We will differentiate between familial, societal, and cultural conditioning and expectations from your own inner guide so that you can live in alignment. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, OCD, intimacy, life transitions, self-esteem, disordered eating, or relationship issues, my goal is to help you identify your needs and how to meet them.

Have you arrived at a point in your life where carrying so much emotional and mental weight is becoming significant in your life? These challenges can present as feeling stuck and/or experiencing depression, anxiety & more. I believe arriving to Self can happen by showing up completely through the internal work that focuses on awareness, connection, mindfulness, ancestral wisdom, and community. I work with individuals seeking alignment who are open to an integrative approach to therapy. Our partnership explores a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences. Your unique story is approached with the desired goals and changes that can bring balance into your life. I offer a culturally humble and holistic approach along with evidence-based modalities as well as holistic modalities (teachings from Yoga, Reiki, and plant medicine). Therapy can be a powerful way to help you delve into the deep, inner work that helps one develop awareness of intergenerational patterns and traumas that may keep you stuck in the past and struggling to thrive in the present. Healing yourself means healing community - congratulations in making the step towards embodying the wholeness and truth of you!
Looking for a therapist is a massive act of self care and I am glad you're here! I have been practicing as a therapist since 2019, and my goal is to help people live their lives in the way that suits them best. Everyone can benefit from therapy and there is no one reason to go to counseling. Every goal is valid. Life can be challenging, especially with all of the demands of college. I see therapy as a cathartic and positive outlet to allow a person to seek meaning, find support and feel validated. My clinical focus is on relationships, anxiety, adjustment and burnout. My therapy approach is conversational and collaborative, and always with the baseline that you are the expert in your life. I look forward to connecting with you!

My therapeutic style is eclectic, strengths-based, and grounded in evidence-based practices (including CBT, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing), with a profound understanding that there is no substitute for empathy. I often bring my passions for art and movement into session as I integrate creative projects and the mind-body connection to help clients achieve their goals. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your mental health journey.

I work with people seeking treatment for depression or anxiety, people going through life transitions, work stress or conflict, relationship issues, or people seeking to deepen their understanding of themselves. I view therapy as a collaborative process, and aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space to understand the reasons you are seeking treatment, and to explore patterns, blocks, and conflicts as they emerge. I believe the therapeutic relationship can provide deep and meaningful change over time. I am happy to set up a free consultation via phone or video to discuss working together.

You can expect a warm, compassionate space where I offer steady support, guidance, insight & encouragement. I'M A FIRM BELIEVER in the health of one's mind being a crucial factor in their ability to meet the demands of everyday life. It becomes a harder task to address stressful situations if you're already not feeling well. Think about moments when you might not have been able to focus at work, successfully study for an exam, or even effectively communicate your concerns to others due to how you felt mentally and physically. MY WORK AS A THERAPIST ENTAILS consistent problem-solving, reasoning, exploring, investigating, learning, and healing. I provide compassionate, supportive, encouraging, and challenging therapy that facilitates and promotes growth for people who seek to improve the quality of their lives. Reflecting on one's actions, highlighting the importance of self-awareness, and offering advisement on ways to improve the overall health of one's lifestyle are a few ways by which I aid individuals in achieving an enhanced experience of life. THROUGH THESE MEANS, the ability to focus at work becomes a bit easier, studying for an exam is not such a harrowing feat and effectively expressing your needs feels like more of a natural practice. All the while, paying special attention to your improved health both mentally and physically.
Hello, My name is Lauren Pezzo and I am the owner of Dedicated Peace. I am a solo practitioner seeing clients remotely. I treat a variety of ages from 13 - 55+ and I am most familiar with Mood Disorders (Depression, Anxiety, Bi-Polar, Panic, etc). I have worked with individuals with a history of trauma be it recent or in the past. I do well with relationship issues, couples sessions and handling familial conflict. I am very big on clients learning to change their narrative. Meaning being open to changing the various stories we tend to tell and sell ourselves over the years. I want to help people think in the grey area of life and be open to challenging narrow thinking we may have become accustomed to.
I have worked with individuals across the lifespan and specialize in working with individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, grief and loss, complex life transitions, interpersonal and gender-based violence and systems-related stressors. These experiences can all quietly reshape how we see ourselves, how we relate to others, and how we move through each day. Sometimes these experiences feel sudden and acute. Other times, they build slowly until something that once felt manageable starts to feel like too much. I also bring a unique lens from my background as a postpartum doula, where I supported birthing people and families through the emotional and physical transitions of early parenthood. My approach to therapy is relational, collaborative, and strengths-based. I believe that each person's experiences and needs are unique, so I am less interested in delivering a formula and more interested in understanding what's actually going on for you. I work collaboratively with patients to create a space that feels supportive, genuine, and emotionally safe. Starting therapy for the first time can feel intimidating, vulnerable, or even emotionally draining. You don't need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy, and you also don't need to wait until things feel "bad enough" to deserve support. Therapy is a process, and it's okay if opening up takes time. It's important to remember that things can often feel harder before they start to feel better – that's not a sign something is wrong. The right therapeutic space will allow you to feel comfortable being honest at your own pace, without fear of judgment.

I'm fluent in Mandarin and English, I have worked with many international students who struggle with cultural adjustment, immigration status, interpersonal relationship and other challenges in college life. I was an international student and I knew how challenging it could be to study abroad. I would like to be a good listener and care for students' mental health. In terms of my approaches, I help students use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) to view their life in a more comprehensive way by analyzing their automatic thoughts. I also guide them to be aware of body sensation and be able to calm through mindfulness practice (a technique from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy).
