It was at PSU that I decided that I wanted to help others. After graduating from the Human Development and Family Studies program, I decided to further my education by attending graduate school at Loyola University Maryland. There I obtained my Master's in Counseling Psychology and completed additional coursework so that I could eventually become a Licensed Professional Counselor. Over the last 16 years I have had the pleasure of working with children, teens, young adults and adults. I have experience working with college students and understand the unique pressures that PhD candidates face. I strive to provide an environment that clients feel safe, supported, and validated. In turn, this will lead to a positive therapeutic relationship in which self-reflection and processing can take place. My goal is for you to recognize your strengths uncover your hidden potential. I hope to help you with whatever obstacles or challenges you may be facing. Please view my website for more information on my therapeutic approach, a look at my office, and insurances I accept.

When we are facing life stressors, we often focus on addressing the immediate symptoms. This can be very adaptive. However, if we only ever focus on the immediate symptoms of our struggles, then we may never recognize or have the possibility of healing the cause of our pain. I believe that therapy provides a powerful space to explore, understand, and ultimately heal the root causes of our struggles. I approach my work with insight from a variety of therapeutic frameworks, including Narrative Therapy, IFS, Solution Focused Therapy, & Attachment Theory. I am also formally trained in EMDR which I can incorporate into therapy. I approach therapy with an anti-oppressive lens to assist clients dealing with the impacts of homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism, and misogyny and am versed in supporting individuals with a wide range of challenges, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism, Bipolar, and chronic pain. I come to my work not merely as an outsider with expertise, but as a neurodivergent and transgender individual myself who has lived experience navigating many of the issues I work to help others heal from. It has been my privilege to help a wide variety of clients, and I look forward to learning how I can help you too!

What inspires you? What scares you? What do you sometimes avoid thinking or feeling? I provide supportive and challenging psychotherapy for clients interested in identifying their complex narratives. We will search for the patterns and themes that are creating barriers to healing, and we will locate those that enhance your ability to live authentically. My social worker lense leads me to work with you to name and examine the societal systems most impacting you. In psychotherapy, we will work to help discover your truths as a way to live more authentically, and as a result, feel less burdened by anxiety, depression, fear, or uncertainty. I practice with a non-judgmental stance, deep compassion, and reverence for patiently letting our work unfold as trust develops. My social justice values are reflected in the therapeutic space that we co-create as I work to validate intersecting identities, continue my commitment to anti-racist work, and to practice queer-affirming and neurodivergent-affirming care. I work comfortably with a wide range of clients due to my experience in schools, community mental health, and as a group facilitator.

Complex trauma can be a stubborn and unwanted life companion. Living through repeated exposure to traumatic and harmful experiences can leave you feeling unable to trust yourself or others, seeing yourself differently, and feeling chronically unsafe. And alongside those wounds, complicated grief can also be woven into the mix of post-traumatic pain. Complicated grief is so much more than “just” a loss - it’s anger, sadness, guilt, and confusion surrounding losses that can’t always be easily defined. As a licensed professional counselor with a special interest in trauma treatment, I understand the profound impact these experiences can have on an individual’s emotional well being. Working together, our sessions can be a safe space to share your experiences, knowing you will be met with empathy and a commitment to helping you rewrite the narrative. Childhood trauma might have cast a long shadow, and grief might feel like a complex maze, but I will work with you to find the path forward. In our conversations, we will not only acknowledge your pain but craft a narrative that honors your resilience and strength. Whether we're unwrapping the layers of childhood echoes or tenderly exploring the nuances of grief, my goal is to empower you to tell a new, more liberating story. If you're ready to embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery, I'm here to be your guide. Let's turn the page and start a chapter that speaks to your courage and resilience. Your story is worth telling, and I'm honored to help you shape it in a way that reflects your strength. Ready to begin?

I work with college students and adults who are navigating stress, anxiety, academic pressures, relationships, and life transitions. I take a collaborative and supportive approach, tailoring therapy to each person’s unique needs and goals. Some clients choose to explore EMDR, and I’m trained to use it when it fits, but many find our sessions helpful through conversation, reflection, and practical coping strategies. I aim to create a space where students feel understood and empowered, whether you’re struggling with burnout, uncertainty about the future, or past experiences that continue to affect your life. I accept BCBS of Michigan and BCN and offer telehealth sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays to make therapy accessible and easy to fit into a busy schedule.

Hey, I’m Laura Fidorowicz. I work with college students who are used to holding it all together—but underneath are dealing with anxiety, burnout, depression, or using substances more than they’d like to cope. A lot of the people I work with are high-achieving and hard on themselves. You might look like you’ve got everything handled, but inside it feels like constant pressure, overthinking, or never quite feeling “good enough.” Maybe you’ve started relying on alcohol or other substances to take the edge off, check out, or just get through the week. My style is real, collaborative, and practical. I’m not here to judge you or lecture you—and I’m definitely not just going to sit quietly while you talk. We’ll actually dig into what’s going on and build tools you can use in real life, whether that’s managing anxiety, breaking perfectionism cycles, or changing your relationship with substances. You don’t have to wait until things fall apart to get support. If something feels off, that’s enough. If you’re ready for a space where you can be honest, feel understood, and start making real changes, I’d love to work with you.

Are you struggling with your relationships with others? Do you ever feel like you’re too much or too sensitive? Ever feel like your brain may work differently then what society says is “normal”? Struggling with your relationship with sex, sexuality, and/or gender identity? I support you in working towards self acceptance and emotional regulation. I’ve spent a majority of my career working with young adults in transitional and transformative periods of their life, but I feel comfortable working with a wide range of ages and experiences. I have extensive experience working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and provide gender-affirming care. I am also sex positive, kink friendly, and poly-aware with a goal to provide a judgement free space to explore these topics. I’m warm, patient, non-judgmental, and sometimes a little bit funny. I appreciate the ability to slow things down and approach therapeutic work at the speed you need it to be. I am an LGBTQ-competent therapist working with adolescents (16+), college students, and young adults who experience stress and worry, feel down or hopeless, who struggle to focus in school or employment, and/or who are exploring their gender and sexual identities. I empower my patients to identify their own goals and intentions in therapy that support their values. Some examples include: improving ability to cope with anxiety; learning to set and communicate boundaries; managing difficult emotions; and creating structure and habits that optimize success in school or employment. I use evidenced-based methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy-informed skills, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based interventions. I will invite your feedback on which interventions you find most helpful and adapt sessions accordingly. Engaging in therapy, especially as a young person, takes great bravery and vulnerability. I hope to provide a welcoming and calming environment to support you through meeting your goals. I see patients virtually and in person.
