Therapists for college students near Denver, CO
Many of the students I work with appear to have everything under control, yet privately feel overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure of themselves. You may be struggling with stress, perfectionism, relationships, family expectations, loneliness, depression, or major life transitions. Some students are navigating identity, independence, or the challenges of balancing academics, work, and personal life. Others simply feel stuck in patterns they don't fully understand. My goal is to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can better understand yourself, build resilience, strengthen relationships, and create lasting change.
Welcome! I am a former lawyer, turned second career psychotherapist, practicing as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California, Colorado and Utah. In the meantime, I raised three adult kids, all with ADHD and LD’s. I specialize in navigating complicated relationships, managing anxiety and depression, exploring more recent and childhood traumas, and honestly, navigating life as a student. Want to talk about law school; I’m your girl. Want to blame everything on a parent? Happy to do it. Want to make real progress and laugh along the way? Let’s go!
I especially enjoy working with thoughtful, sensitive and self-aware students who may be struggling with anxiety, overwhelm, relationship patterns, past experiences, or feeling disconnected from themselves. My approach goes beyond simply talking about what's happening- I help clients slow down, understand their patterns, and work with both the mind and body to create deeper, lasting change. I value working with students who are curious about themselves and want therapy to be a space for both healing and meaningful personal growth.
Life can feel overwhelming and hard. Trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, chronic pain, relationship difficulties, identity questions, and major life transitions can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and uncertain about how to move forward. At Evolve in Nature, we believe therapy should provide a safe, compassionate, judgment-free, and shame-free space where you can speak openly, explore what you are experiencing, and feel supported as you work toward meaningful change. Our approach goes beyond traditional talk therapy. We recognize that difficult experiences can affect the mind, body, nervous system, relationships, and the way you experience the world. Our clinicians use individualized, trauma-informed, and evidence-based approaches that may include EMDR, somatic and body-centered therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, psychodynamic therapy, attachment-based work, psychological education, and nature-based interventions. Rather than simply addressing symptoms, we help clients better understand the patterns and experiences beneath them while developing practical skills for emotional regulation, resilience, healthier relationships, and lasting growth. Evolve in Nature offers individual, couples, and group therapy for adults and young adults facing a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges. Areas of support include trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, chronic illness and pain, relationship concerns, emotional regulation, identity exploration, LGBTQ+ concerns, adult children of alcoholics, and other experiences that may interfere with feeling connected, grounded, and fulfilled. Psychiatric medication management is also available for individuals who may benefit from medication as part of a thoughtful and collaborative treatment plan. Therapy may take place in our welcoming Boulder office, virtually, or outdoors when nature-based work is appropriate and meaningful to the client. Outdoor therapy may involve walking, sitting in a natural environment, or intentionally using nature to support grounding, reflection, nervous-system regulation, and connection. Nature does not replace the therapeutic relationship; it offers another setting and resource through which healing and personal growth can occur. Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable or intimidating. You do not need to have everything figured out before reaching out, and you do not need to carry everything alone. At Evolve in Nature, we meet you where you are, take time to understand your experiences and goals, and work collaboratively to determine the support that is right for you. Healing is possible. Growth is possible. You are capable of evolving into a more connected, resilient, and authentic version of yourself.

I work best with students who are high-achieving, thoughtful, and often putting a lot of pressure on themselves to succeed. Many of the students I support feel anxious, overwhelmed, or burned out, even when things look “fine” on the outside. I also work closely with students from multicultural backgrounds who are navigating identity, family expectations, or a sense of not fully belonging. I have extensive experience supporting students who have been impacted by trauma, including sexual assault, relationship violence, and other difficult life experiences. I spent four years working at the Office of Victim Assistance at CU Boulder, and I bring a steady, compassionate approach to creating a space where students feel safe, supported, and in control of their healing process.

Our practice provides evaluation services, psychiatric services, and individual therapy. At Boulder Neuro, we believe that everyone deserves access to mental health support. While college can often be fun, new, and exciting, it can also be a stressful and confusing time. We're here to help you with any part of that process that we can. Even if all you're looking for is someone you can talk to, please don't hesitate to give us a call or send us a message.
It can be scary to admit that something in your life isn't working. Maybe you have found that the feelings of insecurity, hopelessness, or dread just won't go away, no matter how much time and effort you put in. I understand the embarrassment that can come with talking about our perceived pitfalls. Every person experiences their own hardships, and we all need the proper time and space to work through them. I have seen the healing and growth that comes from reflecting on our patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. I will help you discover how these patterns developed and how we can bring lasting change to your life. Starting therapy can be intimidating. I empathize with you and admire the courage it takes to open up to a stranger. I am proud of you. Please feel free to call me or send me a message.
"I can’t say no to others." "I always feel overwhelmed." "I can’t control my emotions." If you’ve ever had thoughts like these, you’re not alone. Living with anxiety, depression, or the impact of trauma can leave you feeling stuck in the same relationship patterns, asking yourself, “Why do I keep doing this?” These experiences can create self-doubt and make you question whether change is possible. But here’s the truth: you’re not broken. Therapy isn’t about fixing you, it's about reconnecting with your authentic self, learning to navigate your emotions, and finding ways to feel more grounded, balanced, and confident. To speak of one’s experience can open the door to self-examination and potential change. By giving voice to thoughts that are otherwise left unsaid, it’s possible to both articulate one’s pain and find ways out of suffering. As a clinician, I seek to give each individual room to speak freely and openly about their experience of life, without offering prescriptive solutions to unique concerns. My clinical approach is primarily psychoanalytic and psychodynamic, where I invite people to speak of their experience without censoring their thoughts, leaving room for the expression of something unexpected. I also draw from other practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy and narrative therapy, if they suit a particular client or situation. Just as each individual is different, so is every treatment.

I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities including internal family systems, nature-based therapy, somatic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and person-centered therapy. I aim to create a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment and to empower you to foster positive change in your life.
Hi, I am Misty. I work with college students, children, teens and adults who feel worn down by anxiety, low mood, stress, or health changes and want to feel steady and present again. In our work together, I offer warm, collaborative care that helps you feel seen while we untangle what is happening beneath the surface. I provide holistic medication management, CBT and DBT-style therapy, help with ADHD and burnout struggles, and support for major depressive disorder. If you feel tired of carrying so much on your own, you are not alone. You deserve a space where you can slow down, be heard, and feel supported. If this resonates, I would be honored to walk alongside you as you take the next step.
