I draw from many modalities including Cognitive Behavioral, Mindfulness, Solution-focused, and Psychodynamic theories. I am a strong believer that many people repeat patterns with details such as the characters, settings, and storyline changing while the deep-rooted emotional needs remain unresolved. I often explore themes that arise in session and encourage the insights we can collaboratively glean from this. We will also actively restructure thoughts, process emotions, and set short-term goals for behavioral change. I approach the therapeutic alliance with curiosity, humor, and openness and hope you may be willing to do the same! I'm a therapist with Octave and Evernorth Behavioral Care Group. Octave is a mental health practice providing high-quality care covered by multiple insurances. Evernorth Behavioral Care Group is a behavioral health provider group in-network with Cigna Healthcare and Evernorth. For my availability, please reach out to Octave’s team by emailing or calling.

I have a particular interest and experience in working with OCD and generalized anxiety-related concerns. I'm interested in how factors that include intrusive thoughts, avoidance patterns, excessive responsibility, and chronic worry can gradually restrict a person's functioning and quality of life. I've also worked with a lot of immigrant populations, particularly Chinese and Chinese-American clients who are going through anxiety, depression, and other interpersonal or adjustment concerns. In treatment, I focus on helping patients better understand the emotional and cognitive processes underlying their anxiety while gradually building tolerance toward uncertainty, discomfort, and feared experiences through insight-oriented and behavioral approaches, including exposure therapy. My passion for my work is simple: I want to be of help. I believe many people struggle not only because of symptoms themselves, but because they feel misunderstood, isolated, or ashamed of their experiences. I want to help patients make sense of their emotional patterns in a way that feels compassionate, not pathologizing.

My work has centered around supporting adults with issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, identity, and relationships. I believe you are the expert on your life and through this lens, our time together will focus on working collaboratively. Therapy can be challenging and requires vulnerability and courage, however, it leads to growth as a human being in this very complicated world. I work from a holistic perspective and view my clients through the lens of intersectional identities (family/ethnic heritage, culture, race, class, spirituality/religion, age, disability, gender, and sexual orientation) and strongly believe in treating every therapeutic relationship with respect, admiration, and openness. My background and training have explored many dimensions of the human experience and the way we relate to each other and our surroundings. I have worked with adults in the criminal justice system. I integrate several modalities into my therapeutic relationships, including Cognitive Behavioral/Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Existential and Multicultural Therapy, Somatic and Emotion-focused, as well as Strengths-based and Psychodynamic theory. I am a trauma-informed therapist and understand the importance and impact this holds within the therapeutic space. I believe therapy should work towards claiming truth in whatever form it exists. I value the complexities of the human condition and believe in the importance of educating myself on issues outside of my own experience. I am a Spanish-speaking provider and deeply welcome and enjoy working with members of all communities and backgrounds. Change can be an uncomfortable process, and at times quite intimidating. We will strive to work toward your goals while holding space for discomfort and staying mindful within the therapeutic process. I am a therapist at Octave, a behavioral health practice creating a new standard for mental health care that’s both high-quality and accessible. Therapy with me focuses on strengthening self-acceptance, building insight, and developing practical tools that support meaningful change. Clients often report feeling more grounded, clearer about who they are, and better able to navigate relationships, stressors, and major life decisions. My goal is to help you cultivate a sense of confidence, resilience, and alignment with the life you want to live.

I believe in a personalized approach that meets you where you are in your life. I incorporate a variety of different styles and techniques depending on what is going on in your life and what you need. In the initial sessions, you can expect me to get to know you and what is going on in your life. Known for being thoughtful and understanding, I ask questions to spark reflection and help you gain insights. Establishing a solid connection is essential; I aim to create a space where you feel at ease, understood, and never pressured to share anything until you're ready. My work is rooted in cultural humility, inclusivity, and trauma-informed care. I am committed to affirming LGBTQ+ identities, honoring neurodivergence, and understanding how race, culture, gender, class, and ability shape each person’s unique experience.

Many of my clients are young adults, college students, graduate students, and working professionals who appear successful on the outside but feel overwhelmed on the inside. They may be struggling with anxiety, depression, chronic stress, burnout, low motivation, self-doubt, or difficulty navigating life transitions. Together, we identify the patterns keeping them stuck, build practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and goal-oriented, helping clients develop greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and confidence in themselves and their future. I specialize in anxiety, depression, stress management, motivation, and self-esteem. Drawing from DBT, mindfulness-based practices, and Adlerian therapy, I help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical tools for everyday life. My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you can exhale, a place where you don’t have to hold everything together. Healing begins with compassion and connection, and real change happens when we feel understood without judgment. I don’t see my clients as diagnoses or problems to be fixed, but as whole people with complex stories.

Together, we will complete an intake process to explore your history as well as current events that led you to seek treatment. From there, we will explore a goal or two that you would like to work toward. Throughout the clinical process, we will explore and discuss achievements, milestones, and progress. I like to use a reflective process to ensure you feel as though you are benefiting from sessions. We will engage in some exercises to facilitate discussions and an exploration of growth and development. I genuinely enjoy working with diverse groups of people and age ranges. I started my career working in a therapeutic foster care agency in the South Bronx. This is where the foundation of my practice began. From there, I worked in a hospital setting that was directly related to community outreach. Simultaneously, I worked for an outpatient mental health clinic, providing individual, couples, and family therapy. I am very person-centered and develop genuine connections with my clients in order to create a sense of safety and trust while navigating their reason for coming to treatment. I am very personable and will use humor at times to humanize the client’s experience. I am a therapist at Octave, a behavioral health practice creating a new standard for mental health care that’s both high-quality and accessible. I love helping people live their best lives. For some people, that means managing anxiety or depression, starting a relationship, or ending one. Sometimes we need some help navigating the feelings that come along with life changes related to parenting, work, and finding meaning. I use a cognitive approach to increase insight and understanding about who we are and why we do what we do. I am experienced working with couples as well as with mental health professionals. During our sessions, you can expect respect, expertise, kindness, humor, and a safe place to be yourself. I look forward to speaking with you! I am a bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I make it my primary mission to foster a warm environment with a client first in order to ensure safety and trust. I believe when we show up as our authentic selves, we are better able to understand each other. I believe in meeting you the client where you are at and empowering you in pursuing “baby steps” for change. Here we will work on creating your best self by learning triggers, accepting the past, and incorporating coping skills in order to overcome emotional distress. I promote a safe, healing environment for individuals of diverse racial backgrounds, cultural backgrounds, religious backgrounds, sexual orientations, and body sizes. I practice from a person centered approach. Your life is not just about your presenting problem. Here I will look at you as a whole in an effort to understand how you interact in the different environments of your life that concerns your family, social circle, relationships, school life, work life, etc. Here you will have the safe space to address any issue that you want.

With over 26 years of experience, I utilize verbal psychotherapy and art psychotherapy to help you find your emotional voice whether it be about a current situation that is causing you distress or something from your past or future. We hold on to thoughts, behaviors and feelings that seem too overwhelming to share with others. We fear vulnerability. We run from difficult feelings/thoughts. We feel ashamed of our emotional "baggage". Then, we try to hide under a mask because of shame, fear, and anxiety. But hiding in shame only makes us feel isolated, empty and experience self hatred. We become disconnected from our bodies. To promote healing and growth, we will sit through difficult emotions and thoughts until you have a better sense of yourself and self compassion. It is very important for us to create a trusting relationship where you can feel seen, heard and safe. I encourage you to express feelings, fears, conflicts, insecurities, memories and reconnect with your body. You will learn to take off the mask & find inner strengths to bring a sense of connection to yourself & others. We will accomplish insight, self-awareness & compassion, coping strategies, a sense of purpose & connection, and relaxation. I want to help you feel more connected to your life, to remember YOUR truth, dislodge old patterns & reconnect with joy.
