I believe therapy should be a place where you can be honest about what you're experiencing without feeling judged or pressured. My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative environment where you feel comfortable being yourself and talking openly about what’s affecting you. I work primarily with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, life transitions, and the emotional challenges of everyday life. As someone of South Asian background, I understand how culture, family expectations, and identity can shape the way we understand ourselves and our relationships. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and value getting to know each individual's unique experiences. My approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe you are the expert on your own experiences, and my role is to support you as you work toward greater understanding, healing, and growth. At the same time, I won't be afraid to gently challenge you when it can help you move forward, understand yourself more deeply, or approach a situation in a new way. I will meet you where you are. You are not alone.

Feeling stressed out or anxious? Since 2020, many of us have experienced loneliness, struggling to understand our lack of motivation and turmoil in our personal lives. Maybe you’re just feeling ‘stuck’. I provide a warm, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for clients to explore their selves, feelings, and relationships. Together we can address symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues that may be causing duress. I work with a diverse population, particularly LGBTQ+, gender non-conforming, in-transition. I am also working under supervision to specialize in couples, relationships, and sex therapy. Gestalt, Humanism and Mindfulness are the foundation of my strengths-based approach. I use experiential exercises, such as clinical hypnosis and role play to assist clients develop new perspectives and integrate what they learn, along with CBT and DBT tools. A mind/body approach, including EMDR, is useful for processing trauma and other developmental wounds. I strive to help clients find greater self-acceptance and -compassion so they can develop more effective coping methods and communication skills to lead more rewarding and purposeful lives. The most important factor in the success of therapy is the therapist-client relationship. I offer a 15 minute consultation to see if we might work well together.

I work with college students navigating life transitions, loss, and the question of who they are and what comes next, often carrying patterns, unspoken expectations, or a sense of self shaped by experiences they didn't choose. As a bilingual, native Spanish-speaking therapist, I understand how nuanced identity can be and how exhausting it is when that isn't fully seen or honored. My specialty is helping clients reclaim a sense of self during stages of life where identity and agency are often overlooked. I believe in a body-first, present-focused approach to treat your symptoms, prioritizing stabilization while trusting that lasting change comes from a deeper understanding of our histories, relationships, internal worlds, and motivations.

Do people tell you that you worry too much? That you should try to "be positive" or "stop overthinking everything all the time"? You built a life and career by being the reliable one. The strong and independent one. The high-performer. Now you wake up tired, restless, and questioning who you are beneath the grind. I work with BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and Adult Children of Immigrants navigating burnout, complex trauma, perfectionism, anxious stress, and identity conflict who feel lost in this stage of life and want to reconnect with themselves. Clients often say they are overwhelmed, stuck in overthinking, shutting down in relationships, or carrying stress in their body. Through trauma focused therapy, we explore the parts of you shaped by survival, family expectations, culture, and attachment. I integrate somatic work, IFS, CBT, and liberation based therapy to build awareness, emotional inner balance, and boundaries that reflect your values. As a 1st generation Haitian and Black therapist I know reaching out can feel loaded when you are used to handling everything alone. You do not have to justify needing support. I offer a 20 minute phone or video consultation to explore fit and help you take a steady first step toward change.

You don't have to figure it all out on your own! Students I work with are empathic and intelligent and are feeling pain about their personal lives and the world at large. They have difficulty asking for help as they are often the person others turn to for assistance. Distress can show up as failing classes, procrastination, insomnia, sadness, lack of focus, irritability, anxiety and feelings of hopelessness about the future. In our work together, we will identify sources of distress, resolve conflicts that are holding you stuck, and learn, practice and integrate coping strategies. We will tap into inner resources--including intuition, humor, beauty and resilience--to access healing and joy. Our work will enable you to become more grounded, self-aware, confident, and self-directed. I studied English and Environmental Studies at SUNY Albany and Williams College. I received my Masters in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University and my Masters in Social Work from New York University. My professional experience includes over 15 years working in academia, including serving as the director of a university women's and gender resource center, adjunct professor and academic advisor, in addition to my work as a psychotherapist. I am a member of the Climate Psychology Alliance of North America and am a climate-aware and trauma-informed therapist. Many of my current clients are dealing with trauma and social anxiety. They often feel isolated and struggle with initiating and building healthy connections and friendships with others. Therapy can help you uncover choices and social skills you may not even be able to imagine now. My studies in creative arts therapies, mythology, Tarot, dreams and archetypes help you see your life stories with fresh perspective and flexibility. Students who work best with me approach therapy as partnering with a warm, compassionate, knowledgeable guide who can help them access intuitive, academic, physical and practical resources. We weave together a unique net of strategies that you can tap into as needed for coping with obstacles and stressors in your life.
Rev. Sheri Heller, LCSW, RSW
For 30+ years, I've helped adults recover from complex trauma, developmental and attachment trauma, narcissistic and psychopathic abuse, addictive disorders, emotional neglect and chronic relationship difficulties. My clients are insightful, motivated individuals struggling with codependency, dissociation, or the lasting effects of childhood trauma. Through trauma-informed psychodynamic therapy we identify and transform the survival patterns that once protected you but now limit your life. Healing fosters regulation and safety, allowing the parts of yourself exiled by fear, neglect, betrayal, and chronic adaptation to be reclaimed. I integrate psychodynamic, relational, and trauma-informed therapy with attachment theory, somatic awareness, neuroscience, mindfulness, and spiritual exploration. My goal is not simply symptom relief, but helping you create a cohesive, authentic life aligned with your deepest values and fullest potential. Therapy is a collaborative process grounded in curiosity, compassion and respect. Together we excavate the deeper origins of your emotional suffering while developing practical tools for nervous system regulation, healthier relationships, and lasting change. Even when trauma has shaped your life new patterns of safety, connection, and vitality can emerge.
